Default DIY VTEC controlle questions, RPM switch

hey everyone i ordered a summit racing RPM switch to use for VTEC on my buddies 89 civic si hatch with a D16Z6 in it, question here is ... i wired it up aand its not working, i saw that i have to use a negative trigger switch of some sort ?? anyone want to provide me with some insite on this >>>??? isnt it just a 12 volt hot wire that activates the solenoid ?

yes all vtec needs is a 12v pos signal.

why arent you using the correct ECU and have it triggered automatically?

cuz then i;d have to convert to OBD I .. and thats a pain in the *** .. 2. its not my car its a friend of mines its our project car .. and 3. he wants low budget

use a 30 amp relay. Its the same way as wiring a MSD RPM switch.

without proper fuel setup the gains won't be as good, so sometime whenever your friend gets money tell him to convert to obd1 (or 2) or get a vtec controller thats got fuel management built in
