Strut Tower Braces, when are they needed?
When does the need for Strut tower braces come in to play? I mean, when is getting them gonna help handling realisticly? In the spring, I want to get new everything basically, ( i.e. shocks, springs, sway bars, etc..) and wanna know if they really make that much difference?
my suggestion - buy a set of koni sport shocks and thats it. start autocrossing, do a track day and you will be hooked. your budget will now include brake pads, a pile of scrap metal, err brake rotors, tires, entry and travel fees.
Save your money as you drive a independent front/rear suspension. Get an e-bay strut tower if you need to buy one.
Edit: even that will bump you into STS. Don't listen to the people telling you to get one unless they're buying.

sorry got off topic - yes they help, but no, a new suspension setup will not help you if you want to autocross and do track days (its really not that expensive - just dont pour $$$ into the car). A track or autocross suspension will actually hinder the learning curve.

But you're saying that I should just go there and compete with what I have and learn gradually, till I know what works best for me?

ditch the coil overs, install koni shox on stock springs. later upgrade to a set of GC sleeves and have the shox revalved or a set of threaded body coil overs (tien, zeal, etc).
If you want to buy parts for your car, well thats fine. But if you spend the same amount af money on seat time at autocross and track events, you will be much faster.
