No no, they looked like chrome only really dark. I mean it was like the chrome was behind the dark finish or something...I have seen a ad for them in SCC or SS but I can't remember who makes em and I have also seen them on a car at a show.

Black chrome is just black, with a very very very very shiney clear coat. This shiney clear coat give it a chromy effect...

There are many meblems avaliable in black chrome...

i think it's funny how that concept accord can have zero wheel gap, yet still maintain 4x4 ground clearance.

that Accord isn't that high, just looks that way. But yeah "black chrome" is just black with lots of clear on it.

I think there might be some different types, I contacted a chrome plater and they said they do black chrome and it was a bit more expensive then typical chrome. I wonder if I anodize a chrome wheel black if that will work kinda like kandy paint, allowing the chrome to show through the black. I am not even sure if they can anodize ontop of chrome....anybody heard of anything like that. Ace Alloy Wheels is who made the first "black chrome" wheel I saw. Now I can't find any info on it, I would like to contact Ace and ask them about the finishing process for that wheel but I can't find an email address. I went to their site but can't get it work, I think it has something to do with my permissions here at work. Will somebody try to get an email addy for me.

my friend just got these SSR's for his wrx. He said they're black chrome, looks like a gunmetal chrome. I never thought I would like chrome, but they look pretty tight:

I really doubt that black chrome has anything to do with regular chrome. Probably just like those other guys said, dark paint with a crazy clearcoat.

It doesnt.

When something is authentically chromed, the metallic chrome particle are magnetized to the painting surface. Black chrome uses the same procedure as paint.

Also, black pearl, not so black!

its gonna be a bitch to clean, because it has characteristics of chrome, such as a little bit of dirt, makes them look like doo doo.
