Code 67 after only 4 months of Carsound Cat usage? :o(
h0l1oW iT OuT yO! On a serious note, if you do want to hollow it you can wrap the secondary O2 sensor with aluminum foil and you will not get a cel.

I got the same problem after 2 months using aftermarket converter so now I reset the ECU every week or 2
But I am gonna try the aluminum foil today

thats what i kept doing when my jdm 2.5 cat kept throwing code 67. Every 300 miles or so, the light would come on. It's fixed though... How? One day, some old lady in a minivan tried to outrun me thru a fwy onramp that merged into one lane so i floored it w/o downshifting in 5th gear going about 60mph. Oddly, the light turned off afterwards and never lite again. *shrugs*
Edit: check engine light came on today

This has happened to me quite a bit. Carsound cats are pretty shitty. I would exchange it for a new one from whoever you got it from.
It's no secret that carsound cats suck, but the fit & fininsh of SMSP's cats is very good, I'd simply hollow that sucker out and wrap the secondary o2.
so carsound cats are bad now?
so what option is left for the people who want to complete the exhaust system and not run a testpipe?

ahhh, how ironic to see another victim of the carsound bandwagon craze finally admit they suck.

I would install the VAFC, but still is riding around with the harnesses in his Hype R in Pittsburgh
but what do you do when the foil falls off? If you crimp seal it and close the o2 off the ECU will throw another CEL saying the downstream o2 sensor is bad. The ECU expects a certain number of crosscounts coming from the downstream o2 sensor as compared to the upstream 02 sensor and if that signal goes out of the expected range too low or too high, it will think the sensor or cat is bad, depending on the signal. Best to just leave the cat alone until you need to get your car smogged and just swap it out then. The secondary o2 sensor isn't used to adjust fuel trim. That's why they call those cheap cats "One-pass" cats..the only have enough catalysts in them to allow you to pass the smog test ONCE...that's all. OEM cats are really expensive because they have more catalyst material in them so they last a long time. In the end you get wat you pay for, don't expect to get the same properties of gold when you're buying bronze. Rebuilt cats are cheaper..but not much....I dunno anyone that rebuilds cats anymore but there are some out there somwhere.
