Default 97 ITR with failing clutch? (Help me out please)

First off, thanks for taking a look and being willing to help me out. I searched, but could not come up with a definitive answer to my questions, so here goes.
I have a 97 ITR w/ 52K miles. Latley I have noticed the clutch start to slip every once in a while. I have also started to notice a "ringing" sound just before the clutch engages. Both these symptoms do not happen all the time, Id say 50 percent of the time. Is there anything I can do to try and fix this issue without having to replace the clutch? Is it the clutch? I dont mind replacing the clutch, but I dont know what to purchase. I would normally go with stock parts, but since the clutch failed with only 52K miles on the car, I would prefer a slightly more aggressive clutch, and mabey a lightened flywheel, for better throttle responce. Lastly, what exactly is involved with changing out the clutch IE: clutch, flywheel, throw out bearing etc. Thank you in advance for your assistance and happy holidays to you and yours.

Not the same issue, I have no problem with the clutch engaging early, matter of fact it engages a little higher than what I am used to. Thanks for the info though.

I recommend the Exedy Organic. It has almost the same feel as stock but has increased grip. I replace my factory clutch at ~38k and 25k later it's doing fine, with plenty of track use. As long as you're in there do the flywheel for sure. I have the Spoon chromoly but really anything light will do.

To change the clutch/flywheel/throwout you need to drop the tranny. With a helms and the right tools it's not a tough job, first time expect a few hours work.

Hey John, I know a guy that would put your clutch in for a good price. He is the one that replaced the valves in my ITR. I'll call you after the holidays and about the steelies I have and tell you about him. He does good work.

OT: Was your R was for sale back in July? for keeping it. Exedy Organic like Ed says is a good choice. Im still on OEM but for $265 its cheaper than OEM replacement and has a good reputation.

Yea it was for sale a few times. I just like something different about every month. For me its a love/hate relationship with the R. One minute my back hurts and my ears are ringing and I think I need something else. The next minute Ill come upon a set of challenging twistys and Ill fall in love all over. I think Im just gonna keep it and buy a daily driver. Need to build a bigger garage.

Go with ACT Heavy Duty Pressure Plate and a Street Disc, same feel as stock and grabs better then the Exedy.

.... who has nothing but problems since my exedy Organic Clutch. Adjust that and this..................

Buy an ACT u have no problems and it will take any abuse!
