installing a oil pressure gauge....little help please?
I'm in the process of installing an oil pressure gauge and the instructions don't give enough information and I was hoping someone might be able to clear this up for me. It says "...if remote location of sender is required, a ground connection to sender "body" may need to be made."
I'm guessing since I'm not mounting it on the back of the block, then its considered remote locating. I have it in line on my turbo oil feed line. Its going to be mounted in between the shock perch and the motor mount on the drivers side. Will I still need to somehow ground the "body" of the sender? If so, HOW?!
Also, In the directions, it says to run a wire to the ignition switch. Can I just run this to the fuse box somewhere on a fuse that has power when the key is turned to on or accesories? Like the radio fuse?
And one last thing. The directions say to connect the ground from the back of the gauge to good engine ground near the sender. Do I have to, or can I just put the ground in the passenger compartment? If not, how close does it have to be to the sender?
Thanks,
Nick

+12v sw power ...

unless you're connecting it with a rubber line (big no no), it'll ground fine.

+12v sw power huh?
It means 12 volt switched power source...
Other words it means you need a 12 volt source that cuts on and off with the ignition switch.

i dunno why u would need this, but i had it handy, so maybe u can use it
You think it might be better to use one of those off of the block to get a direct feed to the turbo and then the other (90 angled end) go to the oem pressure switch and aftermarket oil pressure guage?
is that the autometer gauge? I just installed one this week and the instruction you said sounded the same

Its actually for a Defi BF Guage...
if u have the oil pres. gauge, u wont need the stock sender. its an idiot light anyway. once it goes on, u know ur fucked. just take that out, and put in the sender on the block. no grounding needed. use some grey rtv gasket sealer.

yea u can do it on the car without draining oil. oil a minute amount should come out. since all the oil is in the pan. make sure its COOL.
