Default good price and quality for a ZC swap??

alright a friend of mine is doing a ZC swap in my crx for 1200 including parts labor and all that jazz. I'm wondering if its even worth getting the swap done or not? or should I just save A LOT more money for a b16? is the ZC a good motor to go with? please reply with some feed back. thanx

I guess that's an ok price as long as it includes labor and parts. The ZC motors aren't too bad of a motor. Better than the stock one, but not awesome.

A ZC motor would be good to swap into a DX or HF hatch but since u have an Si with the D16A6 motor which i think kick some *** would be a waste of money to swap a ZC motor in for the A6 unless your motor is dead. Since you have an intake and exhaust you could use that extra $1200 for a new suspension set-up and a nice header

I would save for a better motor. B16A at least, buddy of mine has a ZC in his CRX, nothing special. But if thats all you have then, 1200$ is a decent price.

ya it includes labor and everything.. I wanna race it and just kinda **** around with the zc for a while until I get my gsr (which will be a while) so i just want something better than the stock engine. Is it worth trying to build up?

Well people with stock internal ZC's turbocharged seem to be running 13s.

i'm not dissin the zc, but it seems like every cheap bitch is defending that anchient motor that ALWAYS needs a rebuild, and then they try to compare it to a b16 saying it will keep up with it...(OK) keep saving and get a b16 swap it is way quicker if done right, and has WAY more aftermarket support.

Even though I don't have a ZC and I can sure go for a B16, I do agree that it has tons of aftermarket support. Although, the B16 came out the same year as a ZC so might as well call them both ancient.

actually if i am not mistaken the zc was first introduced in 1986, but anyways imo i would save the extra 1000.00 for the b16 swap. like the other guy said there is so much more support out there for the b16. plus dohc zc motors have extremely weak rods. almost every dohc zc that has come in to the shop not running, was due to a broken ,or bent rod or spun rod bearing.(just my opinion) and sorry about the phucked up grammar im a little sloshed right now.

yeah they are both pretty old, but your chances of getting a bad apple zc are far greater than b16--just speaking on behalf of people round this neck of the woods, i dont personally have a swap yet but let me tell u spinning zc bearings is a common occurence. = oh yeah if u do decide to zc, trust me u will be like"that's it?" .....and wish u went b16.

well im in las vegas nv. Im thinkin I might just save up the extra cash and go b16. I know its a much better set up and parts are A LOT easier to find for a b16 than a ZC. so a b16 should run around 2500 installed with everything right? how much extra should I pay for LSD?

what I want to do is just keep this motor and build it up somewhat. I wanna mess with a SOHC for a while... but I dont know how strong this engine is. I would like to put in a cam, cam gear, port n polish headers and all that.. should I keep the stock engine and build it? would it be a good set up? til I get the other motor

all this is my opinion:

if youre getting a gsr, build up the sohc. i have i/h/e and just bought a stage 2 cam today. i also have a skunk2 cam gear for it. dont buy a zc. get a header for the a6. it really livens it up. the a6 is one great engine, just no1 build them up. if i were you, i'd build up the a6 no question

The B16(1st gen) is just as old as the ZC so on that note you may call the B16 anchient too.
