Default Spec B owners...need input

did VTEC kick in a lot harder when you installed these cams or was it a lot more mid range more than top end?

you should not hear the vtec crossover while running toda b's. vtec should be set around 6200 +/- 100.

if you feel a "kick" in your power curve, that would imply that your engine is not tuned

I sat in Rodney's(chris) car today and the vtec transition was quite smooth. There is no Vtec feel with the spec B's, but all i can say is great midrange!!!

Toda Spec B makes your power linear. Almost no dips in power whatsover. Transition is so smooth you don't feel it. If you listen carefully, you can hear it. But its not as distinct as stock cams.

well with my I/E VTEC feels like a small shot of nitrous (well you hear it around 6k but it really starts to pull around 6,800 to 7,000). It seems like if you put my car on a dyno VTEC switch point would seem to be almost a vertical line. Personally I really dont care about mid range power if I can gain a lot around 7k-8k and beyond (hoping to take her up to 9,500 rpms safely after mods) Is toda the way to go for me?

My VTEC x-over point with my B's is at 6200 RPM's and it pulls hard all the way to redline at 9100 RPM.

I noticed a huge difference in low-end and mid range power.....

.....actually, I hear my crossover very loudly. But that's with AEM CAI...

The feel is very smooth... power just keeps going up... much stronger than stock, but no crazy kick like jun 3's... which is what the originator of the thread is prolly looking for... or spec c's... or skunk2 stage 2's...

the transition is not very noticeable but it's very strong on the mid range.........you'll miss the vtec kicking in like in the stock one

With my b's vtec crossover was at 7000 ....b16a2 motor not b18c or 5.
Power was seemless, but when it hit vtec, it got super loud, no change in power just a loud *** noise.
Under part throttle, low and midrange was awesome around town, plus i got 33mpg in bumper to bumper traffic, 40 on highway at 80-90.
Mine may have been partly the 3" intake, SMS header and full 2.5" custom exhaust and 5 zigen muffler.

My VTEC is set at 7100 rpms (built B18C5) When I had my B16a, vtec was set at 7100 rpms as well. Engagement is seamless, although with my loud exhaust it does get much louder went it hits VTEC.

When I had VTEC set low, around 5700 rpm, the car fell on it's face then took off like a scalded cat.

7100 VTEC in B18C5 (spec C cams) same primaries as B's

5700 VTEC in B16a2 (spec B cams)
