I have been doing many searches & haven't quite found the answer I seek, but close. My synchros are going out in my Y1 tranny. Has LSD.
B16A1 swap into 90 Civic hatch.
I have three options in mind:
1) Rebuild synchros/gears, possible main bearings (??) in Y1. Worry about parts availability.
2) Rumor has it that Y1 LSD will fit into 92-93 GSR tranny if mating GSR ring gear to Y1 LSD carrier. True?
3) Can Y1 LSD fit into cable LS tranny (from Integra)? What ring gear to use? Can I improve the final drive?
The main thing is to keep the LSD and similar F/D & gear ratios, while keeping the price down (yeah, right). Any help is GREATLY appreciated

Y1 diff will fit into any B16 or LS tranny regardless of hydro or cable, i would assume the YS1 would fall into that category as well.
i have heard that in order to swap the Y1 lsd into another tranny you have to swap the y1 final drive into the new tranny as well. can anyone confirm this?
p.s. milk, have you had any problems with lsd chatter? what tranny fluid do you use? which mounts? axles?

You will have to use the Y1 ring gear and counter shaft in order to keep the L.S.D. from the Y1... because the way that the Y1 L.S.D. waas designed...
there is gear teeth manufactured into the ring gear unlike any other Honda L.S.D.
Hope this helps a tad'

I'm pretty sure that a Y1 LSD won't fit into a JDM YS1 trans. I recieved a kaaz lsd for my trans originally that was speced for the S1,J1,Y1 trans. It came with both senders for an integra and a CRX. I tried to put it in the case, and no matter what I did it was making a grinding noise against the speed sender gear and was not tall enough to have the ring gear clear the case without putting a spacer underneath. I called up kaaz and they sent me out another LSD that is comparable to the lsd used for the 92-5 SiRII. The YS1 trans is kind of anomolie even in japan. I'm not 100% (because I don't have the paper work here), but I think the original LSD was part # DBH1811, and I am currently using part # DBH1821.

The most economical choice would be the LS cable tranny b/c you can find it anywhere for cheap. If I have to keep the Y1 final drive, maybe the gearing wouldn't be too bad...
Clarification on whether or not this would work? - it's my daily driver...
Props for everybody's help

Okay, so has anyone actually swapped the Y1 LSD into any of the other cable transmission for the B-series? I know I'm not the only one thinking about this...

A JDM YS1, and I got the part nubers switched. I had the 21 originally, and was shipped an 11 According to KAAZ, the EF9, EF8, DA6, and DA8 all use comperable differentials. It is only with the YS1 that you move into compatibility with the EG6, EG9, EK4, and EG2, and this trans is not covered under the KAAZ application guide. The Type R's and newer tegs use a larger ring gear, so they use a different diff, but you could use an older one maintaining it's ring gear, or vice versa.
