Tick Tick Tick goes the motor
Well My motor (B18C1) is ticking. You can hear it when it is just ideling sounds like the valves. Them otor itself pulls strong. MMM VTEC. But none the less it ticks. I am planning a valve adjustment. and hopefully that will do it? But what else could cause this. It seemed to be more noticable when switching to synthetic oil. or is it just something hondas do? Old SR20DE man so please dont flame.
Yea I got the procedure from Bseries.net. Search feature does work
Anyway I hope it helps. Hate that tickeing noise and the fact that my Car isnt running to its max potential.

A LOT of inexperienced ppl think valves get 'loose' and start making noise, but the opposite is actually true. Valve heads beat themselves into the valve seats and the rocker arm clearance[s] actually get 'tighter', not 'looser.' That why you have to adjust your 'valves.' After a while the gap will get so small that your engine will start burning valves, especially exhaust valves. That is, if you'll notice, when you go to adjust your valves, 99.9% of the time you will find they are too 'tight', not to 'loose.' Get my drift?
Anyway, Honda fuel injectors are mad noisy. I noticed that the day I drove my CiViC off the lot. You will just happen to notice it more when the engine is idling, hence quiet...
That helps alot thanks. But I am also burning about a quart of oil every two weeks. Which really sucks.
I might need new rings but do you think this can be contributed to the valves?
