LS Tranny with GSR Final Drive
A friend of mine is building a turbo LS motor. He has a LS tranny, but has a GSR tranny with a couple screwed up gears coming to him soon. My question is would it be beneficial to him to put the GSR Final Drive (4.40) into the LS tranny with the stock LS gears. From what I've read, the 1/2 gears are identical in both GSR and LS and the 3-5 are different. But with a 4.40, this will help acceleration in all gears. I've seen a couple posts on here about this, but would like to know some opinions. He already has a KAAZ LSD in the LS tranny, so that is done. I am doing the work, so I would like some feedback to see if this is worthwhile. The motor is sleaved and solid decked, JE pistons, eagle rods, balanced, Hondata. He plans on pushing 14psi daily and 20psi at the track. Thanks for your input.
i've heard so much on another site about the fraility of the si box. plus you're going to be rowing those gears alot. don't know for a fact if the si tranny is not the strongest but i'm sure those gears are a bit short for any kind of decent power output. 4300+ rpm at 80. its gonna be a gas hog
LSand GSR diffs and final drives are different sizes. If you are planning to use the LS tranny with gsr final drive. You much use a gsr diffwith final and countershaft. LS diff and final drive is smaller.
