Default C5 head on gsr block

whats up guys, i have a typeR head with a victorX intake manifold on my gsr block and running a stock obd1 gsr ecu. i was driving my car and finally got on it hard. and at 4400 i hear vtec but i cant feel anything, but then at about 5500-6K on up my car starting pulling hard as hell.

question...
should i get a type R ecu?
what is a stock r vtec crossover at?
does the head, vtec crossover and my obd1 gsr ecu have anything to do with me not feeling any power until 5500and up??
are the head, vtec crossover, and ecu bumpin heads sort of speak??

Well, if you want an ITR ecu, I will have mine for sale very shortly. Let me know.

youll need the ITR ECU or chipped p28 for the extended redline and fuel maps. Your VTEC crossover should be at 5700 rpms, kicking in at 4400 your losing torque and power between 4400-5700.

OPTIONS:

1. Get a chipped p28
2. get hondata w/ itr base map (i'd recommend doing this)
3. get a vafc and adjust vtec crossover and fuel maps yourself

"feeling" vtec isn't an accurate test.

how about taking it to Sgt (he's not too far away) for some dyno time, and a Hondata.

Sounds about right. Big manifolds don't really make good power until higher rpm. Try the stock ITR manifold, unless you are going F.I., you will be happier. And your VTEC cross-over is too low, as stated above. You also lowered your compression by going with the Type-R head. Put some ITR or CTR pistons in, get the Type-R manifold, and a chipped P28 or Hondata and you will be smiling

yeah my car is built for boost. but i ask them questions cause im driving without boost until the motor is broken in(almost have about 100 miles to go). But anyways yeah my powerband sucks and hondata is on my list of mods in january. thanks guys...hopefully when the boost goes on it doesnt feel like that anymore.
