95 v6 accord manual tranny swap (progress)
not sure if any1 actually cares, but here goes anyways
no big surprise but the 88-90 legend manual tranny bolts up to the 95 accord v6 engine, c27a4. the stock brakets for the front and rear mounts DO NOT bolt up to the auto trans, again not a real big surprise, but it remains to bee seen if the stock legend brakets will work, as for the drivers side tranny mount......the legned didn't have one so we're gunna fab something. the other problem we've run into....the 88-90 legend has a solid bar gear selector mechanism...so soon as the fly wheel and clutch come back we'll see if that works. id does look like the stock v6 accord axles will work, but until the trans is actually in the car..I willn't know for sure. also I used the 4 banger manual trany pedal assemblies...and to do this I had to change out the accelerator, I.e. I put the stock v6 accelerator on the 4 cyl manual pedal assy. thi had to be done because the throttle cables are different styles...maybe this can be avioded by using the 4 cyl accord man trans throttle cable...but we had the parts so why buy more... if any1 is actually interested in our progress I'll post as we get through this project

Yes...keep us posted. There are many ppl here who would be interested in your auto-manual fabrication project.
Ever thought about submitting to SCC? I actually have an article I plan on submitting to Car & Driver, R&T, & mics other mags one of these days....

thanx for the response, I will definateley keep you guys posted. just a question tho, are there a lot of people out ther that would be interested in this swap, I.E. if I were to make a bunch of mount kits and shift linkages would people actually buy them. also, as I said be we used an 88-90 legend trany, are theer any...oh lets say cable shift linkage trannys that might work for this swap. Myself personally, I'm not too familiar with the accord and honda v6 stuff. the tranny we're using works, but a cable linkage would really make life easier
quick question, this will really show my ignorance, but does the auto trans have a computer separate from the ecu, or is it integrated...second question, if it is separate from the ecu...where might it be located? thanx

Keep us posted through this ordeal. This reminds me of some bastard on the Speed Options website who has a nice red 98 Honda Accord V6. He said he did a conversion to a manual. But yet, there is no clutch. What a SOB. He just put a shift boot on over the shifter. Here is the **** that did that:http://www.speedoptions.com/features/cars.php?carID=81 Funny to read the words "AC Autotechnic shift ****" in his list of mods.

I was under the impression there were more than a few 5th gen V6 auto-to-manual conversions in the US, but I've never seen or heard of one. There is a web page dedicated to V6 Accords somewhere and I'm sure they know a lot about such things.
Ya I figured the ecu would have to be changed....but if there's a second ecu....well I guess it wouldn't really matter, I know from working on a lot of other auto trans cars there is a second ecu, but I've also seen auto cars with a single ecu, usually on older models. one other update, for any1 that thinks they want to try this, I mentioned earlier that you have to change out the accelerator pedal from the auto trans assembly and put it onto the manual trans brake/accelerator pedal assy.....well here's a little easier way of going about things....pull the brake/acc pedal assy out of the car...then swap out the auto brake pedal for the manual brake pedal, it's a lot easier....trust me
oh and to let you know...this swap is actually utalizing a clutch assy....we got ours from pro-clutch in cali, we had one custom made because after this swap we have other things planned for the engine etc...but best not to let the cat out of the bag. we're currently waiting to get the flywheel and clutch assy back from them...it was done friday, but I wasn't able to pick it up so i'll get it monday, and hopefully we'll get the engine back in the car, oh ya one other tip....for ppl used to working on manual trans cars you know you don't have to take the engine out to change the trans or the clutch....with the auto trans attached......atleast with the v6....take the whole bit out....you will save a lot of heart ache. anyways we'll get the engine back in the car tomorrow and probably run into more fun, but I'll post what we find. and ya if any1 knows anything about the ecu's to use knowlegde would be greatly appreciated...right now we're focused on completeing this swap on a purely mechanical level, but soon we'll need to worry about the electronics. thanx again to every1 that's given advice and everyone that's expressed support and interest in this project.

my auto had a seperate ecu it was right next to the main ecu (94 lx) i took it out and i actually dont have a 5 speed ecu as yet but it runs well
rrei: with yours what did you do with the extra wires....also did your reverse lights work...unfortuneately for me Im not familiar with the auto trans stuff, and I didn not recognize anything that would resemble you're typical reverse light switch on the auto, what did you do about this?
second..as far as progress..another speed bump...the flywheel we purchaced was junk, this is my own fault for not "inspecting" it at the salvage yard, but it puts us back a day... also i'm still worried about the shift linkage, but I figure I'll just have to do some cutting and welding on the stock one to make it work, my only concern is that the car is lowwered and I'm not sure if the linkage will clear the ground, i.e. going over speed bumps, the steering rack is really in the way. but anyways....that's about all I got for right now....

actually we were thinking about buildin up a c32....but the j- series isn't out of the question, tho we'd be doing a little much work right now if we were to simply change to a j-series motor.
got some new news, unfortuneately it's bad news, we've got the new clutch installed and the new flywheel, and we bolted the tranny. now for the bad news....there's a great big chunk of metal that the old autotrans bolted onto, that's right infront of the alxe...um hole....so ya it looks like we can just go ahead and shave it off...I'll take some b4 anf after pics for people who are interested in see what I'm talking about, the other bad news is really our own oversight, can't use the automatic starter have to use the manual one, but that's easy to take care of. jut have to buy another one
oh well thats about it until after x-mas anyways happy holidays to every1
