Greddy Evo Exhaust
I was wondering what any Evo exhaust owners think of their system. I want to get one, and I want to know what other people think of it. Also, could somebody post a sound file or something, because I want to know what is sounds like. Is it a lawn mower sound, or a nice aggressive rumble?
i was wandering what it sounded like too. if anyone has a clip or video that i could hear it in, that would be great. also with the apexi n-1 thx!

The sound is great. Not as loud as an N1, but not as subtle as the SP.
Quality of materials, however --
Don't get me wrong, GReddy builds excellent products. Unfortunately, their choic of aluminized mild steel, rather than stainless, is a huge mistake. I've had TWO GReddy exhausts fail on me, both due to materials, not the craftsmanship.
Now, I have a Tanabe Super Medallion, fully stainless steel, no problems, no complaints.
--just thought I'd throw that out there as something to consider, especially if you're planning to keep it around for a while.

I dunno about in a Teg, but my ex-gf's Greddy Evo in the Accord is all rusted now. The muffler is stainless steel, but the pipes going to it are anodized steel
Had mine for prob 3 years now ... still sounds awesome ... and material has held up quite well for me .. its a Large exhaust ... if you plan on going Fi or heavily modifying your engine ... hook it up .... if your only planing on doing minumal performance upgrades. .. might want to consider a smaller exhaust for better gains ... Greddy makes smaller ones if you like the sound...
it makes a nice deep sound
it makes a nice deep sound
Check out Tanabe. IMO they have one of the best exhaust systems on the market. They are kinda loud in the inside, but no weedwacker bumblebee sound. Its very deep and throaty.
Comptech is also very nice as well. Very clean and small w/o lots of sound.
Ive lost respect for Greddy after hearing all these stories of low quality materials and consistent problems

I've had 2 Greddy exhaust systems... after this one wears out I do not plan on buying them again.... I'll probably either shell out for the Mugen if I decide to keep the car.. or get a Tanabe RM or HM...
anyway I first had a Trust B/L (same as Greddy Evo..but back in mid 90's... it was TRust Japan)... it sounded nice and mellow and back then they had a 1 year warranty.. about 1.5 years after I had bought and installed it.. the resonator in the B-pipe had rusted out caused the ugliest metal on metal rattling noise you could imagine.... I called Greddy asking if I could order a new B-pipe.... thinking since the entire exhaust system cost $550 back then... that anywhere from $200-275 for a new B-pipe would be decent... well they wouldn't even sell me a new B-pipe.. instead I got a rude *** response "You can buy a whole new exhaust system.. wel dont sell our exhausts in parts" then the guy hung up...
I then decided to have a muffler shop take down and shop off the resonator/rusted portion of my exhaust system and weld in a new section... this worked for about another year (total 2.5 years)... then my rear muffler portion had rusted out... there is a hollow/honeycomb like metal tube INSIDE the muffler.. this had become dislodged... I had noticed my exhaust system getting really loud and also that there were these cotton ball looking things on my garage floor... they had a texture though..I thought it was the roofing insulation in my garage at first.. then climbed up there to find out its pink.... then I looked at my exhaust and realized the inside pipe had rusted out/become dislodged and is shooting out the sound deadening composite fibreglass cubes...
I got a really good deal $430 on a Greddy Evo and the warranty was now 3 years.. so I decided to give the Evo a try... in April 2003 it will be going on its 3rd year... so far I've had no problems w/ my Greddy Evo and the sound is deep.. its not quiet but its not extremely loud either...

don't get an evo... just absolutly terrible...
it's all about the custom magnaflow... for forced induction, get a 3" in and out.. with 3" piping.. for naturally aspirated... get 2.25" piping and 2.25" in and out muffler... paint it flat black... very stealthy

naturally aspirated means you don't have a turbo or supercharger (which is forcing your engine to breathe in more air = Forced Induction). so naturally aspirated = engine breathing normally on it's own.
i have an EVO exhaust right now and mine has just started making that nasty metal on metal sound when i take my foot off the gas above 2500RPM and let it coast. didn't know if it was coming from the actual muffler or from the resonator pipe, but after reading this post it sounds like it's coming from the resonator. haven't decided what i should do yet. maybe get a shop to cut my resonator out and weld a new one it...guess that would solve the nasty metalic sound for now...but it sounds like the inside of the muffler will eventually rot out as well, which sucks. any suggestions?

Before you do anything to the resonator, make sure its not the heat shield thats above your resonator. Remove all of them, because they don't do sh*t and give it a try again.
i have to agree with tegasaurus the evo is one loud freaken exhaust the apexi is well known and have excellent sound

what gripes do you have about the evo? do you have it on your car? if not, then are you just bandwagon jumpin? Also, i cant take you very seriously if youre advising people to get 2.25" exhaust for an all motor build up
I have the greddy evo on my 96 gsr and it sounds great. It's not too loud at low rpm's but when you get on it it gets louder, but not like the pissed off bubble bee sound. On the interstate if you keep it at a constant speed it has a low sound. I love it.
