thanks
I have a 94 LS with salvaged title in cali. I paid only 1600 for mine and it was a theft with justa few missin parts. It all depends on the insurance Co u go to some dont even bother with salvaged title and some give u more coverage then others. The co im goin thru covers me 70% bluebook value which im cool with cuz i paid so little for the car,

I have a 2000 GSR w/Salvage title, full cover insurance, I pay around 3grand a year for insurance. I bought my car directly from a salvage yard and salvaged it myself...... went through that whole inspection thing in NY, **** is a big hasle. And yes you can drive your own car to get inspected with dealer tags
Is there a way to tell if it's really a "theft" salvage or if the car was actually damaged and then repaired? If not, how do you tell if the seller is telling the truth?
Im pretty sure if its a theft recovery its on the title, and if its a wrecked salvage title, the title will tell you what parts were replaced. Thats how it was for my bike, and ive seen that on cars as well, however that could just be a texas thing too. Also when i got my bike titled i couldve lied about what parts were replaced and no one would have known, i realized that after going throught he grueling process of getting a slavaged car titled, so buy with one brow raised.

is this for full coverage.
honestly, there is no way of telling what a salvaged car has been through. My GSR had been in a mild accident, CARFAX says nothing about the accient, but it does verify a salvage title. Best way to tell if the car was in an accident is to look at the lines closely, and take it for a test drive at all speeds and try to hear any strange noises or rattling.
Note: Frame damage can usually be detected by looking at the roof of the car. if you see any kinks or bumps, stay away.
