Helped my friend install his AEM CAI on his S2k. Sounds good but I don't know about the power gains. He says he feels a bit up top and we never dynoed it stock. Fit and finish is good but the install took awhile since we had to cut the splash guard and do some other modifications.

we have the comptech carbon fiber air intake coupled with the comptech header and the car feels much better above 6k, even below to me it feels a little livelier, but i have no real numbers to publish. when i get my digital camera back i will post pics. Personally i think the fit and finish of aem intakes is sort of cheap. oh yeah did i mention this is my moms daily driver
I am running the PRM intake, looks goofy, but gains are good..... link below

I have a modified version of the AEM, it's not difficult to install but it does require a little bit of cutting and reruting of the vaccum lines like all intakes. Plus The filter is very low in the car one good puddle and you will learn how much a f20c shortblock costs.
Personally if you have the money I like the Mugen one myself, I just can't spend 1500 bucks on a intake.
Best bet is the comptech in my book, you get the sound and have little to no chance of water injestion as the filter is mounted so high, I don't think its a real carbon intake it is just a molded piece with a carbon sticker if I remember it correctly.
If you want to keep the car stock then simply get the spoon/AUS intake extention. Personally I like the AUS as it is paintable and cheaper and works just as well, use the K$N internals as the spoon filter is crazy expensive as I remember.
Now if your in california your staraight out of luck, I did a search of the CARB eo# database and only 1 intake shows up as legal as of last week. And that is the DC sports intake, still no avaliablity date as of there website. Now if CARB would get off there butts and grant the exclusion paperwork to a few decent sized manufactors then none of this would be a problem.

i'm running a polished aem cai but i'm thinking of selling it for spoon cf air duct to match all the other engine dress up components i have. my only complaint about the aem is that it was a tight sqeeze with the spoon strut bar. its a tight sqeeze so i had to put a small piece of sponge in between the two so that they don't rub.
yup...the filter is cone filter inside the cf chamber....with the wide end of the cone twoards the opening, and the pointy end of the cone closer to the throttle body/intake mainfold
Does this count?
It unfortunately was harder to install than the AEM, but I can feel a difference: Honest!
