Default 1987 Accord, Are there any things I should know about it?

OK, as some might know I'm buying an Accord from the original owner with 65K miles (Auto), Never hit other then door dings and parking lot scuffs.

What Kind of things should I be on the look out for when I get the car?

I know the car needs a complete tune-up and tires, Is there any thing I should be worried about ?

Thanks!

Not really much to worry about, especially with those low miles. 3rd gen Accords run forever! (see my sig below) lol. If I remember correctly you said it was an LX (?), so you don't have to worry about a main relay (common) or leaky fuel injectors (another common). The Keihin carbs were a bit problematic with the chokes and stuff, but if you keep it clean all the time you shouldn't have any probs with it. First thing I would do is flush the tranny fluid and put in new Honda ATF . I'm not sure about how the newer Accords are, but the 3rd gen autos did not have any filter, so if the fluid went unchanged the tranny would eventually die a premature death. If changed regularly like it's supposed to be from the start (about every 30k miles), the 3rd gen autos were actually very good and would go well over 200k with no problems. I've heard of a few instances of the high pressure power steering hose (the one in front that runs above the exhaust manifold) leaking onto the exhaust manifold. This didn't seem like a huge problem though. I know mine is still original and doesn't leak a drop.

Really the only other things to check are for rust around the rear wheel wells and rocker panels (not sure if you get rust where you're at, but if it were to rust that's where it would be).

Don't be discouraged by the lack of aftermarket support. There's still quite a bit of stuff you can do to it, and even a few places that carry stuff for 3rd gens, just have to look in the right spot

Enjoy your new car! 3rd gens are GREAT!
