Default Problems with the idle on a B16

A while back, my car was having problems with the idle. One of my friends said that it was the fast idle control valve. After replacing it, the problem went away. NOW it's back. I don't see how a valve like that could go out after only one year.

I've talked to other people with B16s and they all have the same problem. No one really knows how to fix it though. The idle revs from about 1000 to 1500 RPM. Sometimees staying at 1500, but mostly going back and forth.

Does anyone have this problem or know what it might be?

Could be the IAC or EAC Intake/Electronic Air Control valve. really expensive though. First thing- check all vacuum lines. If it is the IAC, your CELshould come on. So, see if you can pull a code. You boostin or running without a filter, or a clean one at least?

I wish I was boosting. I took my car to the Shop and told the guy to fix the problem. Well wouldn't you know... It stoped doing it for him. So he charged me $25 and called it a day. 3 minutes after I left, it started doing it again.

take off your intake tub next tome it happens, and put your finger over the hole in the throttle body that is toward the firewall. See if that fixes it, if so unhook the coolant lines that run to it and connect them to eachother and take off the sensor and cit a piece of cardboard like a gasket to cover the holes, and that should fix it.

look under your throttle body, there should be a valve that has 2 coolant lines running to it. this is the fast idle valve. on the back of it (closest to the firewall) ther is a brass colred cover with 2 8mm bolts holding it on. remove thes bolts and you will find a large white plastic screw. turn this screw in and your idle problem will be no more.

NO DICE!

I can't figure this one out!

Before, the fast idle control valve fixed the problem, I don't know why the screw isn't fixing it.

Any suggestions?
