function over fashion thoughts?
do what you like.
if you don't paint it....you'd better like having a hood that doesn't match your car.
if you do, i'll be impressed as i have only seen 2-3 cf hoods painted.
don't pint it cause someone tells you to, paint it cause you want to.

I couldn't be bothered going through the trouble of prepping my Fiber Images hood for paint. The surface isn't glass-smooth, so painting it would look rather ***-like.
I didn't get the hood for looks (even though I think it looks pretty cool), but more to remove some poundage from my porker Si. I also happen to like how it breaks up the paint a bit and complements my gunmetal wheels (which sounds gay, but whatever).
Ever see all the 60's musclecars that had flat black hoods??? Boss 429 Mustang, 440 6-pack Road Runner, etc... Those look pretty neat.
This whole "paint your CF hood" movement is getting on my nerves. I already have a painted hood--it's sitting in my Mom's basement

Either way, painted or unpainted is fine. You could look at it many ways. You may keep it cf because you don't care. Or you may want to paint it to look sleeper. Either way, as long as you don't have a lightweight cf hood and big heavy 18" heavier than stock wheels, it's completely functional. Otherwise, you're just doing it for looks.
I know paint doesn't weigh much, but the point of a CF Hood is to save weight. Like I said, paint doesn't weigh much, but every little bit helps. Plus, if you don't like the CF Look, a fiberglass hood would be cheaper.
The hood is flimsy as hell at speed anyway. Why the F paint it as the finish will be cracked and falling off within a year. All idd care about is being the quickest from point a to b. I dont own a CF hood. I really dont think it would make a distinguishable difference in performance and they are a B to care for. Just my opinion.

Well, I consider a 30lb weight reduction from the front end of a car to be a good thing. Especially in a car that understeers heavily.
As for being a B to care for--I don't do anything more than I do for the rest of the car and it looks fine.

no paint.
cf is brilliant in sunlight, I dont care what color car its on, I wouldnt ever paint it. why "waste" the money covering it up and adding weight (heh!) with paint.
there are many other things I would rather spend my money on instread of painting a cf hood!

carbon fiber is phat as hell, but some people are related carbon hoods to ricers...idk about u guys but i'd have to kick my own *** if people said i was a ricer...anyways, do what u want...but if it was me, i'd paint it
Back in the day, racers would paint all or the majority of their hood a flat black to reduce sun glare. I still find this look very cool.

I personally love the look of a carbon-fiber hood on any car.. no matter what the paint on the car is.. You should leave it bare just to show people your not ******* around. If you paint it.. that means you care too much about show then go.. unless you really want that sleeper look.. but still.., DONT DO IT
I personally dont understand taking weight off the drive wheels, I like the idea of a c/f hatch or trunk lid.
P.S - I know its a wild thought.. but Id buy a carbon fiber trunk of they made em.
i have a cf hood and trunk lid from fiber images, i already painted the trunk lid and put my oem emblem on it to TRY to make it less noticable... it blends really well, it just doesnt look stock b/c no lights or license plate. i will be painting my hood in the spring too, the trunk came out flawless.
theft deterance is enough to make me want to paint them, but its mainly b/c i dont want everyone to know the **** is cf... my ***** are big enough, i dont need compliments from 17 year old ricers. if you look close enough for the details on the hood(no washer nozzles or emblem holes) you can tell anyway. and saving 50lbs is nice, acceleration aside, the handling was much improved.

Paint.. Heavy? Not even a good enough difference.. Lets not get that picky. Noobey

Hmmm... I've heard in many places that a stock 6th gen hood weighs 45 lbs. My Fiber Images hood weighs 15 lbs. Last I checked, that's a 30 Lb difference.

Look this is the way I see it.
1) If you are worried about theft then do it, I'm sure it'll make it a little less "flashy" I guess
2) If you paint it and decide that you want to I don't know say get a figerglass hood or something, whatever, doesn't matter. What if you wanna sell your hood, not too many people would want to buy an already painted Carbon Fiber Hood (In my opinion
3) Your car looks SOOOOOO good I wouldn't change a thing, but hey I'm a fan of CF
In the end it's your decision. I hope you make the right one

I think the decision to paint or not to paint the carbon fiber hood kind of depends on the color of your car to,I personally think they look nice unpainted
I admit that I LOVE the way CF looks but I have already made the decision to paint mine. 1) a beautiful white (soon to be Championship White) teggy looks kinda odd with a flashy black hood. 2) I love a "clean" look to a car. I think it's gonna be great that all the onlookers will see is a white car with a couple hood pins (might not even add those). In any event, I'm going for more of a clean "sleeper" look with my teggy. The decision to paint comes down to what you want to do.
