what up yo to anyone who can help, so yeah my motor was getting really hot at idle and I had no heat right... i noticed my ****** coolant was way low...so I filled it. I dont understand because there's no sign of spillage on the ground anywhere, and I'm worried I'm burning it. my filler bottle was low again this morning when I cked it! This ******* frustrates the hell out of me...any ideas what could be happening here???? please advise to those who may know..thanks

 

i would recommend you look at the color of your spark plugs and see if it isnt your head gasket that went. hth

 

Unless you're billowing smoke, I'm 99% certain it's your radiator (assuming you haven't replaced it yet). Stock radiators, with their crimp seams and plastic end tanks, really are crap. It's typical for an OEM Honda radiator to bite it after 5, or so, years, with approx. 80-90k miles. Mine did, and so do many, many others.

You don't notice spilling because the coolant vaporizes as it leaks out, since ****'s so hot. If you inspect the radiator very closely, paying extra attention to those crappy crimp seams, you'll probably notice residue/evidence of leaking.

It's an easy fix, too -- quite straight-forward.

no doubt...ill look into that bro...thanks... my 94 is only at 65k mi...shes ******* damn near perfect... im too lazy to do a lot of the work myself, besides which im far from a tech so i appreciate the info...not that it matters but will this cost a lot to fix? get back at me..peace

coolant would leave a residue in the engine bay if you looked or on the ground if its smooth, i.e. garage floor. thats if your plastic tanks in the radiator went to ****. check that then the plugs.

 

Same thing happened to me and it was the radiator. I think it cost me a few hundred dollars to have it replaced.

 

Hey, i had the same problem, it turned out to be my radiator also. Luckly mine was under warrenty still and Acura did it for free. But seriously its so simple to do. If you can do an oil change you can replace your radiator.

Drain it, unhook the fans, take off all the fittings for it and unscrew the top 2 mounting brackets and its out.

 

yah.. my rad had a small hairline fracture in the plastic on the top.. had to swap it out with my rad from my project teg. now i gotta invest in an aftermarket one.. would civic rads work??

check if its leaking,if so either pay $300-$400 and have a shop replace it for you(dumb idea)
Or you can go get a radiator from where i got mine, off ebay, i know you prob. think ebays crap right.well so do I ,but, i have bought two brand new radiators for both my integras on ebay for $110 ea. and they come with a lifetime warranty. cost $10 to ship and i installed it within a hour or two. easy as hell.... actually if you cant install it yourself you a f*cking idiot.drain underneath on radiator,its a little twist plug.after that take a few little bolts off the fans and the radiator. slip out old radiator ,put in new one, put it all back together, will be easy even for someone who has no experience with working on cars.
So basically go buy a rad. yourself and stop being lazy

 

check the water pump, if it is not the rad. then your water pump is leaking and its time to be replaced
