A friend has recently acquired a very nice 92 Si with 114k miles on it.

we are both into minor mods/improvements, and he is looking to beat me (i have a 99 v6 mustang), which he may be able to do already, we don't know.

What mods/recommendations should he do first?

on the Honda engine, is a new exhaust helpful?
Suggestions on CAI's.
would new plugs/wires improve anything?

anything to get him going.

AEM Cold Air Intake, Hondata Intake Gasket, Greddy Header, There are many different exhaust setups he could choose. Greddy Evo, Tanabe Racing spec, Apexi N1 are a few of the popular ones. That should be a nice upgrade for him. He could get a Apexi VAFC and do some dyno tuning after that to unlock a bit more power. You don't really need an upgraded ignition unless your either going forced induction or it just needs to be replaced in your car.
