Default Fuel Pressure Regulator leak?

Ok I got an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with a gauge on it. The style is similar to the SX one. My problem/question is: The two fuel nipples on it seem to be leaking a very little amount of fuel. When I turn on the car and rev it a few times, no drips of fuel or anything, not even if I drive it around town. BUT, there seems to be a sludge of fuel around them anyway. Is this normal? Should I get some AN wrenches and tightend down those nipples? Or will this damage the FPR?

TIA

You have orings on the fittings going into the regulator, right? That is how those seal.

Well, this isn't exactly like the SX. It doesn't have AN fitting with stainless steel lines like the SX (if I remember correctly). The fuel nipples are threaded and wrapped with teflon tape. You can see the teflon has turned orange on the blue nipple (also on the red). Sorry for the bad images; I got a cheap digital cam.

Then what do you use to seal?

Teflon tape should seal fine on fuel. Are the threads on the fitting tapered? Look at them real closely and see if the taper at all from where they start to where they end. If they are tapered, they are pipe thread and need teflon tape to seal. Those fittings get tighter and seal as you tighten them. If it's leaking, put some new tape and tighten them some more.
