blown headgasket help
well i just bought a hybrid 90 crx si with a b16a1. it was delivered last night and i took it straight to the honda dealership today to get it checked out. the guy i purchased it from said there were no known problems besides a bad TPS sensor so i assumed there was nothing else wrong with it. well it turns out he had something wired wrong to begin with and it didn't need a tps sensor but has instead a blown headgasket. it's going to cost me 700$ to get it fixed, should the seller reimburse me for this as it was not told to me when i purchased the vehicle? what can i do if he chooses not too. anyone have any ideas?
I don't know how mechanically inclined you are but I'd just do it myself. I sure as hell would not pay $630 to install a $70 part. It's really not hard, just a little time consuming.
As far as reimbursment there should be a lemon law, (we have one in AZ). If there is a major mechanical breakdown in a car within 30 days you can take them to court, get your money back, etc. Just check consumer protection laws in your area. HTH.

maybe the seller didnt know anything about mechanics and doesnt know that the head gasket was bad... maybe i t was trowing a TPS code.... why dont u take it somewhere else and have them check it also..
to see if its really the head gasket....maybe its just something else... have a shop do a compression test, leak down and diagnostics...

lil' piece of advice--never buy a car without hearing it run and driving it---wouldv'e saved yourself this headache----by the way 700 is insane to spend---go buy a helms and the proper tools and replace----it is layed out step by step.
well no one in my area was selling a crx\hybrid so i had to purchase it without driving it since i couldn't fly down and back.
lack of time is the thing. i don't really have anytime to fix it myself and i'm not paying the 700. the guy who bought it will pay for it as he said there was nothing wrong with the car. even on the add he said there was nothing wrong.
the code was for the TPS but they fixed that and noticed the block leaking oil. i saw it myself and it's not spillage it's definately coming from around the head. this happened to my accord 4 years ago.

I don't think you can file a law suit because you bought it privitly. You could only sue if you bought it from a dealership. Thats what the law is in Ohio. (lemon law)
Hopefully he is a nice guy and will pay for it. But if not, your **** out of luck
