need some tips on nitrous?
okay i have a 1992 honda accord lx with a stock motor,w/ intake header and muffler,zex nitrous of course with the purge kit,bottle heater, the remote bottle im gettin soon in and key pressure guage cause of ups damnit they are really late.
im goin to the races with a trick up my sleave uhhm please tell me step by step how to the set my timing from stock the how to retard it by two degrees step by step so i can do it myself. my car in the chiltons guide its 15+,-2 degrees where do i need to be for the 65 shot and is it stressful to go at 65 for my motor cause it has about well 187,000 miles the engine is pretty clean

use a timing light or you can rent one from autozone, your chiltons should tell you how to do it.
as far as running your car with that much, it should be o.k. just change your oil before going to the strip, make sure you have backed your timing down, make sure to use the highest octane fuel you can get.have fun.

ya, use your manual on that or if you need help a local mechnic or car guru should be able to help ya. It's not relaly all that hard.
about the nitrous, 65 shot won't hurt your engine. nitrous doesn't hurt your engine, you could theoretically run a 200hp shot on your engine and be ok, that was if the engine was capable of handling 200 hp more than stock and you had enough fuel to match that nitrous. The problem is when you run nitrous the car will lean out and the lean condition messes up the car or if there is something getting ready to die in your car engine (not a strong engine) putting 65 extra hp, NO MATTER HOW, would find that weakness. With the zex kit the lean problem shouldn't be there, the car will sense the lean and it should add more fuel. Once you start putting big shots and getting really lean and the stock fuel system can't keep up is when you have problems.
hope that helps.

em..
rich=too much fuel
lean=not enuff fuel
plus some conjunction with the word "air" jk
that's about it.
running too lean=denotation(sp)=blew

It's definitely better to be rich than lean. If you're too rich you may lose a little power but if you are too lean you will have detonation problems which will cause your engine to DIE. Air/Fuel guages are for the most part innacurate. Getting the car tuned on a dyno with a wideband O2 sensor would be ideal.

narrow band o2 sensor sucks. with an air/fuel guage you'll only see what your mixture is at wide open throttle.
You can get an EGT (exhaust gas temp) guage which would be a way to find out. I think if your exhaust gases get past 1400 degrees then that's running too lean. I don't know the exact number, but there is a number you want to stay under. Lean conditino will make you run hotter, so it makes the exhaust hotter and you can tell that way. Probably more accurate way to tell than an air/fuel guage on a narrow band o2 sensor.
