Default Motor Mounts

My rear motor mount is shot (has been for a while ) and i want/need to get a new set. I am probably not going with OEM, and i will be going with some type of polyurethane. I did a search, but i could not find out a direct answer. I am either looking to get the Energy Suspension or Prothane ones. What i have read is that the Prothanes are very stiff in the race version, but it seems no one used the street version. The ES ones are supposebly a lot softer although i have also read that they still make a lot of vibration. Which would be the best choice?

Energy would be good for everyday driving since the other one you talked about is too stiff and might cause your chasis to bend. Don't know if I spelled that right but yeah.

First of all, if a mount is broke, you cant use inserts.. Well you can, but its highly recommended that you dont. Buy a new oem mouunt from http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net and then get ES inserts.
If you want somethig stiffer, get a rear drag mount from HAsport. That is the who mount, and no inserts
Prothane makes inserts for the rear mount, and the tranny mount, the drivers side upper mount is complete press in bushings.
As for bending your chassis...thats news to me.
btw, search!, you will find many topics coverd on this.

Yes, replace the rear mount first.

what is the part number for the OEM rear mount, how much does it cost?

Can a rear mount for a civic Si be used on a GSR DC2?

It looks like a no for a 99 SI mount.
As for a price on the GSR mount, I picked some up from my local acura dealership for around $60. However, at Acura Carland (http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net) they have them for $38.45, part # 34489.

On a side note, I replaced all my motor mounts (all were broken) with OEM ones, then bought the ES inserts. I am extremely pleased with them. I will eventually be getting solid ones when I no longer drive my car on the street.

I put the ES inserts in all BUT the rear mount. I battled that stupid mount for a good 2-3 hours before giving up. If anyone has any tricks on getting that bitch in, lemme know!

Ok, i like i said, i searched but i just was looking for someone who has used the prothane street ones. I might be considering the JimFab ones after reading the post by Sackdz in the ITR forum... except i dont want the race ones and he said that he read somwhere that the normal street bushings could not take the vibration...

I have the prothane too man, i have them all, lol.
My advise...Prothane street if you can take the vibration..car needs to go back to the body shop again..headlight bracket vibrates like a bitch...stupid accident
but ya...the vibrations..you get use to..as for the race? its too much for a street car, your car becomes a huge vibrator...seriously.

Well, since my rear mount will probably will have to be replaced ($40), and i need new inserts then ($35), i will probably end up getting the jimfab units ($100 shipped). It is all 3 mounts, including inserts.

Hmm trim it down a bit?

My buddy is building a GSR hatch. With the motor pulled out and everything, we had a hell of a time fitting the rear mount in.

A little cutting/trimming and it finally got in there.

I can't imagine how hard it is to do with the engine in the CAR
