Default New '03 Rollcage specs/Rules

I have a copy of the 2002 SCCA GCR. I understand the new one won't be out for a few more weeks. I know that only DOM cages will be legal next year right? With that in mind I'm wondering if there are any other changes to the cage rules I should know about .. I hope to have the cage put in very soon.

I am planning to run in MWHC next year. (Oh my god I said HC and rules in the same post I'm naughty )

Go to the SCCA homepage and look in Fast Track. If you are having a cage fabricated by KIRK Racing-they will build it to SCCA requirements. Other fabricators should do the same for you. Our CRX has a hefty 1.75"x.120 DOM 8-point cage fully welded into the car. The tubing is oversized but it really does not alter the configuration. I will suggest that you consider the "recommended" horizontal bar between the forward downtubes-to be mounted aither just above the cluster or as in many cars just under the steering column (ours is up). Another thing-do seriously consider the NASCAR style door bars-for a few extra $$$ you get that much more protection. If you are so inclined (I wasn't) you can have them fit into the driver door cavity and remove the glass and winder on that side (see the GCR).

Good luck and happy holidays

It's on page F-3, column 2, #9 in the Jan. FasTrack. However, it appears that no decision has yet been made. It's under a section entitled:
The following items have been REFERRED to their respective advisory committees or TABLED pending receipt of additional information.
Here's the full text:
Set the effective date for elimination of ERW as an allowable tubing material as 1/1/04 not 1/1/03 due to dealers having rollcage stock on hand. (Gillespie) Tabled for input from the Executive Stewards
As you can see, nothing's set in stone yet. If I were you, do the right thing and get a DOM cage.

Oh I'm not worried about that, I plan on DOM anyway. Just looking for another possible resource on next years changes (if any).
