sohc question
somone had mentioned to me about useing civic gx pistons in my d16z6 sohc vtec i want to run an n/a with high compression and i have no idea of the benifits of useing civic gx pistons how could i even get them i have a connection in japan that i could use if need be ( exchange student stayed at my house last year) here is the setup i am currently running https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=357874 its further down in the page..... thanks alot guys!

that was me who mentioned th GX pistons. They are like 25/ea from hondautomotivepartsonline.com Out of 98 natural gas GX civic. Forged as well, so you can shoot on them if you like. I was told by a tech that they will drop right in a d16z6/ or the d16y8

GX was a limited number of natural gas powered Civic's, I belive certain Texas counties use them as city/municipal cars.
88-89 D16A1 pistons yield 12.5:1 CR in a D16Y8, and from what I gather, GX pistons yeild nearly the same but are forged as opposed to the normal cast units.

a1 pistons match the valve cut out location of a 88-91 non vtec head.
the GX piston should* match the cut outs (even tho they are freakin small) of a 92-95 vtec head, or the 96-00 heads(dont the 96+ all have the same valve spacing?)

How do you figure you can get 12.5:1 compression on integra pistons? WTF?
As for the GX, I don't know.
12.5:1 is too high of compression for even 93 gas. Try something a little lower. 11.5:1 would be fine as long as you run 93+ all the time. The integra rods can hold 220whp. So you will be fine using those. If you want High comp pistons, go JE. I really doubt the teg pistons will bring your compression up so high, even so, It's too high for pump gas.
