Just installed DC JDM Header and Carsound cat now my N1 canister is touching my rear bumper.
I just installed my DC Jdm Header and smsp carsound cat #94066. The cat seems to be a little too long (about a 1/2" too long) because now my Apexi N1 canister is pushed up against my rear bumper and it is making a rattling noise. I am thinking of taking the cat off this week and take it to a muffler shop to have the cat shortened about 1/2". Anybody else have this problem?
Here's a picture.

Did you get the N1 Catback or custom piping?
My JDM 4-1, Carsound Cat, and Apex N1 Catback and it fits perfectly. The canister sits like 4mm away from the bumper and it touches it sometimes when vibrating, but not too bad.

Just let it touch and let it melt and never wash the soot off the bumper! Mad Racy y0...........
check the fitment of your header and catback. check all of the bolts to make sure they are really tight. The added length might be due to not tightening the bolts as hard as you can, leaving a gap between the gaskets and metal. also check the header bracket. If it's not that, I would suggest making sure that your rubber hangers in the back are oem length. Some universal hangers are too short making the exhaust's that angle up like the N1 touch the bumper. good luck
just take it to a local muffler shop. i had a problem like that with my tanabe, but i had them fix it.

is having a 2.5" collector worth all the BS?
Ask the muffler shop to use a hanger like this one:

thats the same setup, i was and maybe still will go with, when i get my R, do u know if it will pass smog as is? Or are u planning to put the stock back on? Or are u just gonna pay 200$ for smog (get my drift)
That seems to be a common problem with that setup.
I have the the JDM DC header, SMSP/Carsound cat kit, and the stock b pipe and having the same problem. It pushes the catback about 1/2" to the rear and my aftermarket muffler rattles against the lower hanger.
BTW: The double function rubber hanger is not a solution in this case.

why don't you shorten your cat too.
I'm not sure what to say. I used to make the cats about 16.5" long then people were saying they were too short. Now I've been making them 17" long and there are 2 guys here that are saying they are too long. I'm not sure how accurate the length of the JDM headers are from one mfg to the other. I assume the ITR JDM is held to pretty tight tolerances. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd find slightly different lengths of all the different cat back system that are available for the Honda and Acuras.
So I suspect it may just be the tolerances of the axle back, b pipe and header adding up that may be making trouble for some. If you have 3 pieces that have an acceptable length of say +/- 1/4" and all pieces are a 1/4" long then you'll have a problem.

David: When I switched to the JDM header and your cat, i kept the b pipe constant. I think the problem resides when you couple the cat with the JDM header collector. It's very noticeable how big the new donnut gasket is compared to the stock one and the way it couples it is also different. I guess that's where the 1/2 inch stretch takes effect. Adding to all these, the JDM header might be also a lil longer than the stock manifold.
Make sure you have that fixed, otherwise your bumper will melt.
Putting my JDM 4-1 and Cat. on after X-mas.

My JDM 4-1/Cat with stock B pipe fit perfectly. But with the N1 Catback it touches a little.
I think its the catback that's causing the problem.
