almost installed new fuel filter today
was gonna do the O2 sensor too but the thing was $167 from Acura, and thats my dealer cost so i just got the fuel filter for $16, got the old one off and was putting the new one on and when i went to put that main bolt in with the hole in it when i dropped it into my engine bay and the thing DISAPPEARED!!!!!!! gone from all of humanity and nowhere to be found or ever heard from again
i ordered another bolt for 10 freakin dollars but the question i have is when you put that bolt back in how do you know the hole is lined up?

why the frown face? this is one of the sweetest 94's ive come across, the only major (and not even really that bad) is a little bit of rust on the LR fender
when i pull this motor out for my turbo motor ill probably just rebuild it and keep it for my next project which will probably be to drop it into a civic hatch or CRX, or keep it in case i come across an integra with a blown or missing motor

banjo bolts have a little channel around it, so the fuel comes up thru the hole and goes around the channel until it finds the fuel hose. Same thing w/ the banjo bolts on the brake calipers.
That bolt swims in fuel. When Pat said "channel", it means that there's enough room b/w the bolt and inner diameter of the banjo bolt for fuel to fill the entire circumference immediately surrounding the bolt.
And...the entire fuel system is pressurized, from the output of the fuel pump all way to the back of the fuel injectors....pressure should be assumed homogeneous throughout.

ok i get it now, i really didnt pay attn to how it was when i took it out
i was too busy to trying to stop the fuel from dripping everywhere but i was thinking the bolt was a snug fit around the fuel line but if its not it would make sense if its not that fuel would just come up thru the bolt thru the hole and thru the line, i just hope i get that bolt tomorrow, i couldnt believe it tho the damn thing vanished!!!

It's probably sitting on the subframe somwhere. I've probably got a whole car in there by now with as much stuff as I've dropped.
man i scoured the earth for that thing, if it was in endo china in a bowl of rice i wouldah found it
i even let the car roll out of the parking spot and slammed the brakes hoping to jerk it loose and it didnt fall

you don't need to line the bolt up.. just bolt it into the top of the fuel filter and make sure you use the new crush washers (should have came w/ the filter kit in a little baggie) and your good to go...
as for your old bolt I'm willing to bet I know where it is... there is a metal tray/subframe around under the battery/carcoal cansiter/ behind front tire area.... and it probably went between that subframe piece and the body....

well its about 20 deg out lately and since i live in an apt i have no garage to work in so the $10 for a bolt is less of a hassle to me than spending an afternoon in the cold on my back searching for a bolt, yeah it came with new washers. i hope this well help my ailing fuel economy, im gonna put the injectors from my gf's car which has only 90K compared to mine so im sure they flow a bit better than mine
any other things i should do to help get my gas back up to 30mpg+
air filter is new with the intake i bought so thats not an issue

if u had 225k miles on it and this is the first time changing the fuel filter im sure there will be huge difference in performance and milage. that thing wuz probably totally cloged
i havent had it all 225K so i dont know if its original but looking at it looked pretty clean, of course i doubt that is a reliable way of telling the cleanliness of the filter, the car did run a tad better with the intake and exhaust tho, i have a fpr and gauge coming soon so maybe that will help a bit too
$10 for the banjo bolt? GEEZ! thats ridiculous. you shouldve just jerked your car by hittin the gas and hittin the brake to get it to fall out or at least make it visible if its resting on the metal frame below the fuel filter.
hitting the gas? no banjo bolt = no gas
i tired that by letting it roll and then slamming the brakes but nothing, and like i said i live in NH its about 20 deg sometimes colder outside so spending $10 for a bolt is worth the time
now that i think of it i should have just gone to a junkyad and just yanked one off oh well not too many jy's in Nashua anyway
