Car shakes on the freeway...help!
I'm havinng a problem with my car. In the freeway at about 80mph or so the cars shakes really bad. It's like a side to side motion. And, sloing down from high speeds makes the car shake also. I don't know what's the problem. Could it be the engine mounts or alignmaent? Also, does Honda cover those two under warranty? Thanks for any info.
either you need a 4 wheel balance, or you have a flat spot on one of your front tires that is causing a vibration. it can be caused by suddenly braking, locking up the fronts, and wearing down the tire, leaving a flat spot.
I dont think its any of those things, i think you need to check your cv and ball joints those usually cause the car to shake at those speeds. I had a 88 prelude that did the same....
if the steering wheel shakes only at higher speeds its probably the balancing, if it shakes at almost all speeds its probably a bent wheel or bad front end part(cv joints) if it vibrates when you brake it has to do with the brakes, probably a warped rotor. nothin to serious though. any tire shop will usually inspect all that stuff for free.

no honda have to diagnos it and only replace the defected parts.

id check for warped rotars (possibly), torn or worn bushings. and alignment as mentioned above.

Welll .... to solve the problem with the "80mph shaker" question:
I had the same thing happen to my coupe, but in my situation it was a bad CV joint and also the 2 front tires needed to be balanced.
But with that situation in hand it could be these posilbilties:
Bad CV Joints
Wheel Balancing
Wheel Alignment
Torn Bushings
or Bad Strut
