what does it mean when a car has a salvage title? does it mean the car was wrecked b4 and/or car was stolen? thx -tony

 

could be both, or other things that would cause it to become a total loss.

 

I don't think it has to be wrecked, i was looking into the same thing. It could be somethin like this: A shop does lots of work on a car, person can't pay bill, and the car is left to shop, there is too much to be paid, and the car isn't worth it, so it gets a salvage title. Lots of times the title will have a "type s" or somethin and u might be able to tell. Correct me if im wrong

 

just remeber when ever the cost of reparing exceedes the actually value of the car thats considered slavage, no matter if its theft recovery or accident.

 

Be sure you check out the car's background before you do anything...don't want any unforseen problems popping up!

 

Usually a car has a salvage title because the insurance company claimed it was a total loss, either because of an accident or it was stolen. It could be a perfectly fine car that was salvage titled because the vehicle was recovered after the insured was paid off or it could have been in a really bad accident and fixed up or whatever.
