OT(girlfriend's Jetta) - headunit install
Sorry, its not a Honda-but i figured some may be able to help me out...
Getting a Sony Xplod CDX-M630 CD Receiver (headunit) for my girlfriend's 2000 Jetta for Xmas. Anyone able to tell me how to go about installing it? Worried about breaking panels when taking them off too. Easy install?
Also, just incase worst comes to worst, how much does it typicaly cost to have a shop do the install?

It's pretty easy to do the install, you can get a wiring harness from Circuit City, Crutchfield, or any other shop. THe problem you will have is removing the stock radio without the special tool. Some shops will remove the radio only if you offer them $5 cash to do it really quick.
If you order it from crutchfield, you will get the VW keys to remove the factory head, and you will get the wiring harness with it. They have $3 three day shipping right now. Consider what you may save buying elsewhere and see if it's worth the extra effort to find or build keys (you can by modifying some Pendaflex hanging file folders), and making a separate trip to an install place to buy the harness.
Also, make 100% sure that you don't connect any wire to the "K-wire". Make sure that you take a photo of no wire hooked up to the K-wire and be prepared to show this photo to your dealer or whom ever is going to be working on the car. If you do hook something up to this wire, you can destroy their multi-thousand $$ diagnostic tool - and that makes them grumpy.
Other then that, it's afairly standard install.
