Kind of a silly quesiton but
I've been reading, and hearing about the crazy gas mileage civics get, but I have a range of only 260 miles, on a stock civic...just doesn't make sense to me, i've changed the oil and the spark plugs, and did a leak test to make sure all the cylinders were firing. It's not making sense to me, it kinda matters to me right now, considering i'm saving up for my engine swap, and i'm getting killed on mileage, also, when my light comes on, and I fill up it seems I only have an 8 gallon tank, when I should be having 11, it..just seems weird ya know? I'm getting the feeling somethings not right that should be right. There's no reason for an "econobox" to not get better mileage then say an old mustang. Any ideas?
is it a stick? what rpm do you shift at? do u floor it alot? do u shift a low rpm, but still floor it to get there? ur guage might be off too. r u sure that u have an 11 gallon tank? on my car it seems like its an 8 gallon tank. but im not sure what its supposed to be.
thats pretty good. all i can think of is that maybe its the light coming on too soon. usually it comes on when u have like 2 or 3 gallons left. i dont really know though, thats on my suburban. it has a 37 gallon tank and when i fill it up, i end up putting in like 31-34. its a 2k2 also.

Pretty sure, I try not to hit vtec. And I don't have guages at night, so i'm used to shifting kinda early. THe light wont' come on...for some reason...my car has issues..
I have an Hx which is supposed to get really good gas millage I get about 32mpg of city driving which is good, but not good enough....
The mileage that they show is probably highway mileage cause in town you don't get the same mileage as when you're on the freeway.... i can drive all the way to diego from vegas and have a little under a 1/4 tank left and i have a b16 hatch.... that's probably why.... if you're saving up for somthing then just don't go anywhere to often....
really?!?!
is your ecu bone stock and virgin? you say your car is stock? is that BONE stock.... or do you have anything done to it at all....
cause i just put a bullfrog ecu in my car and the fuel map is REALLY rich.... so i go through gas like crazy...
and i'm stationed at nellis....

200 city? damn...i got an hx an get about 350 if i'm one the highway alot, and about 280-300 during city driving...got an intake and exhaust is all...it's gotta be your driving habits...try only pushing the pedal just enough...my wife's ex auto gets about 270...i got horrible mpg until i really started paying attention.
I'm stationed in minot, you'd think with the fuel colder i'd catch a few more miles, I bought it in mississippi, could that be why? The car is used to an incredibly warmer climate?
I don't think so.... but when i say virgin i meant has it be chipped or anything.... if you just bought it from the dealer then there shouldn't be anything wrong with it.... what kinna gas are you using?
how many miles u have on the motor? they do lose efficiency after a while..and it does depend on ur driving habits too..and check ur exhaust , if ur smell gas then a tuneup is in store
It's only got 80k on it, I think I should take it in for a tune up though...either way, I tried to drive to north carolina today, wound up in a ditch...I thinks that's my only real gripe about these cars too light on the snow.
97 ex-- d16y8 vtec... you sure it doesnt call for 89+ octane?? i might try goin with 89 and advance your timing a bit. just a thought.....
My mileage sucks too, my mpg is about the same also (200/250). This is in a bone stock 93 ex, but I have a feeling that my engine will soon be biting the dust.
