Speaker Install '00 ITR
Hi, just new to the forum from Perth, Australia.
I have just purchased a '00 ITR and am in the process of installing the custom stereo, and wondered what the max size of speakers can fit in the front and rear factory speaker locations.
Will 6.5" speakers fit in there?
Thanks a lot.

The ITR coupe runs 6.5" speakers all the way around.

Thanks for the welcome man.
The car's an '00 ITR yellow, but with no mods as of yet, cept for the Hurrican air filter. Next on the list is the custom install, and then dropping some 17"s on it
As for me, well just your average 25 year old Italian/Australian.

you can fit 6.5" up front. But you need to serioisly modify the brackets. I would just get the 5.25~" and call it a day.
I spent like 4+ hours trying to fit them and make it work/sound good
back is 5.25" as well.
I would just a new deck, new coaxs for front and back, and call it a day. any more it will add too much weight

What do most peepz put on their ITR's?
The stock 15"s look f*cked up.

17"s do not look good on any honda IMHO.
You've got to be joking. How could a wheel that fits PERFECTLY not look good?

Wheels that fit perfectly do look good. That is why 17's don't and 15's and 16's do.

I think 17's are the perfect size. Your handling improves unbelievably (since you kind of have to go w/ a 40 series tire). The debate over performance loss is about as old as the import secene itself, do the math (find a wheel size calculator if necessary) to compare the overall wheel heights and you will find two similar numbers(similar, not the same!). One could argue the weight issue, but simply using a lightweight 17" could very well be lighter than stock or most 16"s. Blah, blah, blah..............You be the judge & make the decision that suits you best!

)Seriously though, you have to take into account not just the added unsprung weight, but also the gearing ratio. People spend big bucks to lower the geering to make the ITR take off faster. When you go to a larger diameter tire/wheel combo, you do the exact opposite. You create a taller gearing situation which makes the car accelerate slower.
there are 6.5" aftermarket speakers out there that will fit without having to modify the brackets but most decent set of components and coaxes don't.
also, some speaker manufacturer's 6.5" speakers are much larger than what should fit integras.(ex. JL & some models by Polk)
i think it's a bigger pain installing 'some' of the aftermarket tweeters behind the stock tweeter grill.
a dremel comes in handy.

Stock baffle has a mounting depth of about 2 inches. Otherwise you'll need spacers or cut a hole in the baffle. I'm sure there are a few 6.5 inch speakers with mount of 2inch or less. Plug n play.
