Default d16z6 piston question.

im building my d16z6 sohc vtec i have already bought integra ls rods. Im doing a full rebuild on it and im ordering pistons im going all motor and i want as high of compression as i can get i was hopeing 12 : 1 the head is stock now but i deff plan on building it too once i get the kinks out of it i was thinking of JE pistons my friend put these in his sohc d16a6. He is running a 14 b and he has had no problems i will be running all motor and i know any piston will hold up does Je make a piston that will bring my compression up around 12:1 also i will either be using a y8 head gasket or a copper head gasket will the stock z6 head take the compression untill i build it?? thanks alot!

Yes they do. Contact them and let them know your exact plans and specs.

They don't have em in stock. I talked to Je and they have in stock 10.5:1. They will custome make them and I'm not sure if there is a cost difference. The 10.5:1 shipped were going to cost me 486.00 with rings and new dowl rods. They might be a bit more expensive for custome. Also you will need to know head clearance and some other things. Depending on if they have made them before. They'll also ask you if your over boring and ect. Just have your ducks in a row and you'll be good. Oh and the Y8 head gasket and the z6 head gasket are now the same. I just rebuilt mine. I'm going to use 89 integ pistons to up the compression to enough to make up for the lack of power when trying to pass and over take.

why not use stock 12.5:1 pistons that have a 21mm pin, same size as LS.

Did I here GX pistons?????

I've yet to prove this combo, but I know one HART race team that did it about 4 years ago.

I think youll end up spending more on the sohc non turbo to make less power then a turbo would bring or even a swap. My friend has a high compression built sohc that can run only on the track that dynos at 142 whp. If thats the way your going good luck , i hope your sohc ends up hella fast. But thats all just my opinion

Right now, I'm anti turbo/anti DOHC.

Because I'm BROKE!

Besides, who else can pull off the redneck rebuild and still run exact same ET's?

Cliff notes, I melted #3 piston BADLY. dropped in 70k mile Y8 pistons, ran EXACT same times. Cost was $26. I swapped a set of ARP wheelstuds for the used pistons.

Honed? NEVER!

Redneck is right. When are you going to shoot for the 12's?

after seeing singlecam screamers lastest ET's, I'm gonna reshoe with 22x8x13's from Wil, then try 97+ Lude TB and injectors. That should put me at 12.7-12.8, then jump to 100 shot and blow the bitch up!
