Default Let's talk longblocks.. H22 specific.

Alright I was just browsing through some JDM-USDM engine sites and I came across where you can buy just the H22a "longblock."

H22a Longblock Includes:

- Motor
- Intake Manifold
- Exhaust Manifold
- Injectors
- Fuel Rail
- Throttle body
- Distributor

Full H22a Swap Includes:

- Motor
- Hydrolic Tranny
- ECU (P13)
- Axles
- Shifter Cables
- Shifter Assembly
- Stock Motor Mounts
- Engine Harness
- All Sensors Needed
- LSD Tranny (Optional +$300)

From what I can get out of comparing, all that is lacking with the longblock is the ECU, axles, motor mounts, harness, and transmission.

I know the stock Accord axles should work, along with the transmission.

For someone wanting a swap soon, would buying the longblock using the stock axles/transmission be fine until funds allowed for the other stuff?

Or are there a lot of other variables that I am not considering?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replay.

What does an engine harness usually run for?

Same for the prelude mount, and I believe I know what I'd be looking at on the ECU.

You need to resuse the Accord harness for the chassis, the Prelude one doesnt work. I know HMO will throw in an ECU and drivers side mount for an extra $300 usually.

yea use the accord harness.

also u do have to have the prelude drivers side mount and we had to slot the holes for the frount mount a little but it works.. i would wait till u have all the money at once. its a pain in the *** to pull the tranny while the motor is in there. take your time and do things right the first time.
peace..

Yeah I feel you on the do it right the first time, but patience is not on my side.

That and the main reason I'm considering this is b/c I'm well past overdue for my 90k tune-up and rather than spend all the money all that, I can just put in a new engine like I've been wanting to do.

Ok... back to the engine.... when you guys say harness, in what extreme are you meaning? Like define what the harness does b/c it seems as if there are many different types, like if the longblock were an OBDI, and since I have an OBDII then I'd need an OBDI wiring harness. I just don't know how many harnesses are necessary, etc.

I think that's it for now, I'll post questions as they come, thanks for the input thusfar though, really it's greatly appreciated.

ok, i guess i'm stupid when it comes to jap cars. I'm still learning on them. what's the diff between a standard h22 and a long block h22? i'm seeing long blocks pop up places and they are same displacement so i can't figure out what exactly a long block is. thanks for the help.
also, fbiguy007, what accord and f22 do you have?

Long blocks are just the engine minus the tranny/axles/ecu. Same engine.
