Default Water Leak from hatch strut on my CRX

Crap its raining. There's water leaking into my car and its leaking through where the passenger hatch strut attaches to the car. When i say strut, im talking about the things that hold the hatch up. Anyways, its leaking from where the plastic cap is that covers the bolt that holds the strut onto the car...anyone know how to fix this? my hatch seals are still good... i did a search but didnt find any answers on how to fix this

My car just started leaking like you described. I think it may be the tail light seals.

lets figure this out, my hf was doing it the other day in the rain. hatch seal looks perfect. I guess I need to take the sidepanels out and have someone run the hose.

open up your rear panels, there are 2 hoses that run down to your fender from your sunroof, the hoses tend to get clogged up with crap over the years adn water runs back up and water leaks from the rear hatch struts. All you gota do is remove the rear cover partly, reach on the sides and pull hte hoses out, they have a little plug on the end, pull that off and you should be able to see all that crap sitting inside of the end.

Is this where you are talking about?

Mine leaks on the driverside, and I think my tail light seals leak too.

I removed the drain plug in the bottom of the spare tire compartment so that the water wont puddle up.

My damned EX does too... real bad. I've got the new taillight and center reflector gaskets and a rear truck w/s... I'll put 'em on soon and see what happens.

Yea. You will need a screwdriver and hammer to get it out. It is about 1.5-1.75" in diameter.

Mine leaks too. My thought has always been the seals on the rear quarter window. Luckily mine is no longer out in the rain.

they all leak whats up with that my friends 2001 integra type R leaks like a damn fountin too you would think honda could design a car with seals that didnt leak then agan i guess the crx has a poor design to begin with being that water lies on the hatch gutters

as far as mine i bet the taillights leak worse than anyones.
try putting integra lights on a 4th gen civic and getting them to seal HA!

Here ya go!!! The 3 bad spots are 1) tail light seals/ gasket 2) sprayer nozzle for rear hatch (Sis) 3) the rain gutters.
Majority of the time it is the rain gutters that are leaking.
Hope that helps.

im pretty sure if water is leaking around your hatch struts you need to pop off that rear plastic peice holding in the headlinder and there are about 4 bolts holding your hatch on, take off the hatch and reseal it with some silicon and that should stop your leaks.

if you have no sunroof it is either:
a) rear washer nozzle (again if you have one)
b) the gutters on the roof

to fix a) you have to 'pop' it off with a credit card slid underneath front and back, and then seal with sealent (duh)
to fix b) you can remove the headlining and seal underneath where it's fixed to the roof. or remove the black seals and replace them and fill with sealant while you go

HTH

Mine leaked a lot out of the hatch support screws as well.
This is how I finally got it to stop.
There are two rubber seals on the roof that run from front to back.
Using a flat head screw driver lift that seal at the back, where it meets the hatch.
Clean the area under the seal towards the front of the car for a good 6 to 10 inches.
I cleaned it with laquer thinner.
then, I used clear silicone and carefully coated the gutter/roof weld.
Make sure to cover it all the way into the drainage area in the hatch.
let it cure then put back the rubber seal and you are done.
Mine stopped leaking.

well i put sealant around the squirter and under the rubber on the roof...so we'll see how she holds!

So remove the black rubber stripping that sits under the hatch when it closes and clean under it?
My rubber is still fine.

Thats exactly where mine leaks wait that is my car isn't it? And I'm in the process of gutting my car now and the rear drain tubes are pluged solid. oh and my tail lights are leaking. Also did anybody ever have water drip from the dome light? Mine did it just a few times then stoped.

NO!
Please read my post again, don't go tearing up your weather stripping.
How can you half read and come up with a totally different thing????
