Default whats a good generic CAI/SR

i don't wanna spend $250 for AEM, and I want more than just a K & N...

i've seen cheap short rams for like $50.

anyone know of one that is under $100 that isn't bad and installs easily? (that is, has mounting brackets)

no matter what the manufacturer would have you believe, they all are just about the same. Paying a bit more for a high quality filter is worthwhile IMHO though.

Well, I'm in no position, nor have the knowledge to give you technical tips, BUT an AEM Cold Air Intake on www.groupbuycenter.com for Accord 94-97 is actually 180$ US shipped.

Do a search on the page, I think they will lower the price if it gets more demand..

Props to the person that told me to find my parts there, I forgot who :[ sorry..

I'm going to buy it from there too, but in June 2003 only, hehe :] hope there are good offers by then.

EDIT : fixed link

EDIT^2 : How convenient of me to have found you the link of the product ;O http://www.groupbuycenter.com/buy.aspx?id=8031

There it is, hrm, it first says : All Listed prices include FREE OVERNITE SHIPPING. Polished prices are now the same price, please follow B,C,R pricing. !!!!

and a bit lower :

21-408B,C,R 94-97 Accord 4 Cyl. 184.54
21-408P 94-97 Accord 4 Cyl. 213.51

I think ALL of the CAI's for our Accord are 184.54! B,C,R and P means Blue, Red, Chrome, and Polished, I guess ?

I think it's a pretty good deal.

Well, what kind of accord do you have? I have a 4th gen and just got done installing my CAI and it wasn't exactly a "bolt on" mod. YOu have to cut holes and stuff for it. Also, i didn't get an AEM because i'm not about spending that kind of money either. I bought a Bomz racing cold air intake from ebay. just do a search on accord intake and they'll come up. It's a nice intake and all, but the bends in teh pipe aren't correct, it doesn't line up properly whiched cause a headache installing. I guess i can't complain for 45$ for a full cold air. It sounds sweet and did it's job, just a painful install. If you have a 4th gen accord and don't want to do any major mods then i'd say just get a short ram intake. You can get htem on ebay for around 26$ and how cna you mess those things up, they just are a strait piece of pipe with a filter.
hope that helps any.

Well, from what I heard.. AEM are perfect fit yes ? It's what you get for paying nearly 200$ instead of 45 ;o

I doubt you need to cut anything with the AEM.. Correct me please if I'm wrong.

EDIT : quote from AEM's website

Only air induction systems on the market that utilize a complete hardware kit with soft mounts for a guaranteed perfect fit every time
well I understand you can't always trust the company's words, so anyone can get an input on this please ?

yeah you still have to cut a bigger hole for the 4 gen Accord with the AEM.

i'd say it all depends on if u want a CARB legal intake or not. for me, cuz i live in california, i bought an AEM short ram for my 4gen accord, and it should arrive today, but if i didn't live in an emission controlled state, i could really care less wat intake i got. but i dont feel like paying a $100 fine cuz its not carb legal, and then it ends up costing more then an AEM intake. for those who dont know, CARB stands for California Air Resource Board (correct me if i'm wrong) heres a list of all intakes that r CARB legal http://www.arb.ca.gov/aftermkt/aftermkt.exe listed by manufacturer.

If you go SR, get the cheapest you can and get the K&N cone filter for it. For CAI go Injen or AEM. I got my AEM CAI for $160.

there are a couple CAI on ebay that are carb legal with teh sticker and number on them that proves they are legal for under 100$

and yes, you still have to cut to make the AEM fit on a 4th gen accord if you go cold air. If i did it over i would get a short ram...so much easier for a 4th gen.

Hmm, I see..

What about the 94-97 Accords ? This means I havea 5th gen, correct ?

Would the AEM be a perfect fit ? or I would still need to cut something ? :[

I also wonder if there are such CARB, or polluting air laws, over here in Canada. But I doubt it..

yea, i just installed my short ram AEM in my 4th gen accord, and it took me all but about 30 minutes to take out stock air box, resonator, and install the AEM. i prolly coulda done it faster, but i had trouble getting this one bolt off that held the stock assembly in.
