another Y1 tranny problem ......
my tranny is really been f***ing my off lately
its very hard to get into 1st , sometimes i have to roll the car forward a lil to be able to go into 1st , but after the car is moving changing to another gear is sweet
also if i wanna put it in reverse straight away , it will grinds
when the engine shut , its easy to get into gears ....... synchros ????????

I have the same problems!! Pisses me off too!! No clue on what it is, I think maybe its clutch related, the bearing or something!! Just have to put in a new clutch kit and find out I guess!! But i have an S1!!

I think he is referring to these...

They hold the shifter fork/collar assy in the gear selected similar to how the snap ring on the end of an axle holds the axle in the tranny. I can see how they would get worn flat and become disfunctional and I dont see why you could not use US ones, but I am not sure.
