Default Fuel filter???

I just got back from the acura dealer. I went to go pick up tranny fluid and other litttle things.. I told him I need an oil filter, fuel filter and 3 qaurts of tranny fluid. He told me for 94 and up integras, u never have to change the fuel filter... I put one in my gsr 3 years ago and it helped out alot.. Well i think it did it seemd to get better gas milege. What do you think? I'm almost positive thats its part of a regular tune up. Am I wrong?

Ditto what the others have said....for such a low cost item, why skimp on it and risk your fuel system getting dirty!? I'd also advise not utilise that dealer again, if they give such crap advice.

it is not on the scheduled maintenace list. according to the helms, you are supposed to check the need for a new filter by taking readings of the fuel pressure to determine if you need one. so technically the dealer is correct.

that being said, I changed mine out at 25k w/o the testing advised. good insurance. just seems like a lot of trouble to determine if I need to replace a $15-20 item.

It is located to the right of the battery. Just unbolt the top screw and loosen the bottom of the filter and thats it

It's on the schedule for the Aus Spec ITR, to change every 40K kms (I believe?) and although it's a fair point - I very much doubt that Honda is going to measure the fuel pressure (they'll simply say it needs replacing, regardless)!?

Yeah, to get at the bracket screw in back of the filter, you need to have small hands and be adept at a maneuver that I call the "reach around."

if you're going to change your own filter, be careful of the battery terminals when you're working on the filter bolts. with the filter located right next to the battery, a wrench touching the terminal may cause a spark.

spark + raw gas =

BE CAREFUL
