just what the topic says..some guy is trying to sell me a distributor off an 91 si for 50 bucks but i have an 88 dx and i am NOT trying to do an mpfi swap.....and he said it will work...

dx 5 pin

so no it will not work?

Yeah it will work thats one of the things you need when your doing a DPFI to MPFI swap but the Si has a Cylinder Postion sensor in it which the DX doesnt have at all. As for using it with just a stock DX I dont know? Maybe not wire up the sensor? I do know that it fits though....

99.9 percent sure you can't use the Si distributor for DPFI.

 

You can use the diz. You need to pop on your old square plug for the 5 pins and just leave the blue/yellow and blue/green unhooked. I have a xtra DX diz if your interested though....

 

Correct. Using the DX distributor in an SI will only fire 2 of the 4 injectors. Using the Si in the DX will send 2 extra signals, but don't use them... you still get the 2 correct signals you need for the 2 injectors that the DX has.

Plug swap required... Si has 2 extra wires so don't use them.

 

ok i didnt buy the si dizzy..i guess my car will still be out of commission for awhile until i find a dx distributor for cheap. anyone have one laying around in good condiition.? So Cal please...
