help me troubleshoot this problem please...
alright, friday afternoon my car started making a grinding sound under acceleration while i was on my way to atlanta from statesboro, ga...and there was a little bit of slippage it seemed. the night before i was playing around in a parking lot just trying to break the rear end loose, but that's the only thing i can think of that i've done in the past few weeks(been busy with finals...). the cv joints aren't making any noises/grinds when i turn, and the axles seem like there all the way in the transmission. does anyone know what might possibly be going wrong?
i'm suspecting maybe my differential might be going out, but i'm unsure. i replaced the transmission(h23), clutch(act xtss), flywheel(cm 8 lbs) and driverside cv axle(slight mishap remounting the original...involving some broken bearings) in august...following that i've replaced the driver side 4 more times...DO NOT BUY ADVANCED AUTO PARTS' cv axles...they're pure ****, stick the original or get some performance axles.
anyway, suggestions are greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Del

UPDATE:
i removed the driver side cv axle and the grinding noise went away. i reinstalled it, and it came back. it looks like the cv axle might be slightly loose from the intermediary shaft, could that be making the noise? could i possibly just need a new set ring?

first off you should be replacing the set ring every time the axle is taken off. If the noise is comming from that area I might check the bearings in the half shaft. Because you said the CV Axle is new correct? It could just be bad bearings. Cheap to fix. Pain to check/change.
