Tein HA's in CRX
Ok, I'm confused, I have seen on several websites that HAs are available for the CRX, and the SS was only for 92+ civic......which ones are available for the CRX, specifically a 90 CRX Si......
I have the tein HA's with the upper pillow ball mounts. These are actually designed for the JDM siR, so you should be aware of a few things before you buy them. 1-as stated above you need to get 88 civic.crx USDM si rear lower control arms, or 88-91 JDM crx or civic si/siR units. The reason why I specify si/siR arms is because the other trim levels don't have accomidations for a sway bar. Also swithing to the JDM style arms greatly reduces your options as far as after market rear sway bars go. You'll now only be able to use ones designed for the USDM 88 or JDM units. 2-the spring rates on the teins are set up for the siR, meaning that if you don't have a b-series swap on your car, the ride will be stiff verging on straght out harsh. Other than that I don't think you should have any other issues. The quality on the things are second to none. But let me say this, if I had to do it over again, I think I would just get the progress coil-overs and spend the extra cash on a good rear sway bar. Don't get me wrong I love the teins, but they cost so damn much. The adjustability is cool, and there are a whole bunch of different springs you can order from tein to fine tune you suspension. Have fun.

Yeah they the dampers are 16 way adjustable, but your spring rates still remain the same, so the heavy springs (especially in the front) are still going to make for a stiff ride. It's not that bad though, and like I said earlier, tien has many spring rates avalible for the HA, so when you order them, just spec out a lighter spring. They should be able to accomodate that.
if someone is getting HA or even anykind of Tein for that matter and getting softer spring rates then what comes from the factor, then they need to look at a different company. Tein is not for cursing around on a daily basis and making your car for show or for the JDM effect. Tein was made, and always will be made, for racers.
the kit is acually for EF9 and all you need is the Type R rear LCA's or '88 crx LCA's (pretty much the same thing)
EDIT: the 'R' ones you can get at the dealer for $75 each. but im sure you can find something cheper at a junk yard.

im a bit confused...tein's usa website ( http://www.tein.com/honda.html, lists the SS are for the 89-91, and the RA are for the 88, but tein's japanese website http://www.tein.co.jp/appli/tekigoh.html lists the FLEX, HR, NR, and RA for the ef9. i have an 88civic, with SiR discs all the way around if that makes a difference. what Tein suspension setup can i use? thanx in advance
the ss are for the us model and you dont have to change the LCA's but if you want the other ones. (flex, HR, NR, HA, RA, and that sort of stuff) then you have the change out the Rear LCA's
300f and 400r, what are you talking about? I'm guessing thats lbs. and why would you want it stiffer in the back? You want it stiffer in the front. try 8kF and 6KR for a nice ride. (yes the rates i listed are in KG, but sorry, i understand that better.)
The SS are indeed for the '89-'91.
If you want to get some RE, they're pretty expensive but there is an '88-only application.

Basically you need anything with an eye mount rear shock instead of a fork mount. H&R also sells a coilover set for the eye mount shock (a.k.a. '88) cars but the shocks aren't adjustable.
What do you need some spiffy set of coilovers for? If it's just driving around on the street with the worn out stock bushings still on the car it's not going to do you much good.

Since no one seems to have mentioned it. HAs have been discontinued. Get Zeal B2. same spring rate 12k 8or 9k and are 6 way adjustable. Plus they come with the pillow mounts that tein charges you 400 bux for. http://www.aj-racing.com/ racing has them for around 1250 or so.

I'm guessing you haven't done much solo racing. Just about everyone with FF cars use heavy springs out back for oversteer. But this is more the North American way of thinking. You should venture into the Road Race section sometime, this topic has been discussed in great detail there.
model X, who planned on using the Flex system from the EK9, didn't know Tein made other setups for the JDM Si-R.

If you have an 88 Si, then there is no need to change the rear LCA's
Just because the HA, have been known to rust, doesnt mean everything Tein offers is utter crap. They HA are made out of steel and the RA's are made out of aluminum just like the Zeal's, also RA's come with upper pillow ball mounts just like the Zeal. I have also seen and heard of Zeal rusting out too, it all depends where you live and how well you take care of them.
I don't see how the HA's could rust out before the car unless you beat them up while installing the shock fork or something. They are complety powder coated with no exposed metal, except for the threads on the shock body which are zinc plated, oh and the strut rod wich is chrome plated. If your subjecting your teins to harsh enough conditions to where they will "rust out" your cars uni-body is probably in worse shape.
I have heard of the TEINs leaking prety bad but thats about it never rusting out????
and for the price you could get some thing just as good for alot less
Your never going to use all 16 postions on the dampers let alone have enouf track time to figure it out so whats the real reason you want TEIN???
honestly if you want performance i would go with some thing like
JIC or ZEAL or PROGRESS
