D15B2?? What model CRX do i have?
I just bought a CRX and the guy said that it was an Si, but i looked on the engine and it says it's a D15B2. I'm not too familiar with the CRX engine codes. Can anyone please let me know what i have. Thanks guys.
You have a DX. The D15B2 is a 1.5L throttle body injected motor. I'd swap it out as soon as you can. HTH

One other thing, its possible that someone swapped out the engine for the DX one. If you have a sunroof, it's definatly an Si. I agree about swapping out the engine. There isn't too much performance wise you can do with that 1.5l. If you have the know how, and/or the money, consider a swap.
Hey i do have a sunroof. Does that automatically mean that it's an Si with a Dx engine? Or is there another way to find out what kind of car i have?
I'm almost 100% positive only the Si models have sunroof. Rear drum brakes were normal on all 88-89 models. Sounds like someone sold you a car with a DX engine.

I'm going with RioNinja on this one - only the Si models have sunroofs, from all I've heard. Sunroof wasn't an option; it was provided standard on the Si model only. ... Least, that's what I've heard.
Why would someone swap a DX motor into an Si chassis? It's DPFI, not MPFI - it would be hard to do!

I don't know man. But i looked on the motor and it say's it's a D15B2. I wouldn't lie about something like that. So what motor am i supposed to have if it was an Si?
Your supposed to have a D16z. The 16 as in 1.6. Also, swapping a DX into an Si isn't that hard to do, all you need is the wiring harness, and the injector box (that aluminum box near the drivers shock tower). I suggest checking the numbers on the motor.
Well the #'s on the motor say i have a D15B2. i guess i'm stuck with it. But also do the CRX's have power steering?? I can't locate my power steering reservoir, so i think i don't have that either. Can someone help me out.
You could have a dx block. Check to see what your intake manifold looks like adn say??? And maybe your sunroof isnt factory. just a thought. Also if it is an si you will have a tach in dash.
only SI's had sunroof. no dealer install on this one guys.
how about a complete engine number. that tells a whole
lot more about what mtr. it is, or isn't.

I do have a tachometer in my CRX. It goes to 6500redline. Also what do you mean by complete engine#?? Do you mean the VIN#? or the engine code?
What does the intake manifodl say???? PGM-Fi or Dualpoint injection???
You probaly had someone install a dx block in place of si possibly...no biggie. ust through the si cam in and your ok

It says "PGM-FI". So i guess you're right. Don't know why someone would do that, but oh well. You said to just throw the Si cam in there? Are you talking about a 89 CRX Si cam, or one of the new Si cams?
Also here's a pic of the engine

Well atleast you have the better fuel injection system(better for swapping later)...someone probaly had a bad motor adn the shop put a dx block/head in to replace and the customer didnt read engine codes. Not that big if a deal, you will lose some performance. You could also gain a little if you swap in 88-91 si camshaft or aftermarket for a few more hp but it's probaly not worth the trouble. Dont even worry about it now that i think about it. I hope i helped out some. jim
Hey thanks for all the help guys. Well I guess it doesn't really matter what kind of engine i have because they are all pretty slow. And hopefully i will be able to do an engine swap in about a year. Thanks again guys!
