Default Please help me to understand about wheel fitment

It is confusing... help me...

I want to get a set of 17" wheels for my Integra R (RSX-S in the US). I have spent the last 2 hour surfing the internet for information… and I am more confused than ever...

The problem I am having is the wheel offset. The standard 16" wheel has an offset of +55. JDM TypeR 17" wheel apparently has an offset of +60. However, it is stated in some online wheel catalogues that 17"x7 wheels with an offset of +35, +40, +45 and +50 are all OK. Is this correct? Won't the wheels be outside of the car?

I really like 5Zigen wheels but I have not seen any RSX or Integra have them on. Almost all 5Zigen wheels have an offset of +43. Could someone tell me whether I could use 17"x7 wheels with +43 offset? If you have 17" wheels on you car, could you tell me the offset of your wheels please?

Thank you for your help

Shane

Actually, a higher positive offset will tuck the wheels inside the wheel wells more. I used to run 17s with +45 offset...they work fine but they are a bit too far back inside the wheel wells. +50 might be a good setup.

Does not compute! The RSX-S is just the plain Integra overseas.

About your problem: I'm currently running 17" BBS RXIIs on my Type-S. They have a 44mm offset (I wanted 46mm) and they seem to work fine. If in doubt, go with a lower offset and then use wheel spacers (provided you have long enough lug nuts for the size of spacer). Mugen uses a 46mm on their prototype, so I was thinking of spacing my wheels to the same value.

As the other guy mentioned: more offset (assumed positive in this case) actually PULLS the tire toward the center of the car. Too much offset and you will rub the inside of the tire on the suspension/undercarriage. Too little offset and the tire will come in contact with the body when turning.

Most importantly: wheel offset has a significant impact on the handling of the car. Do not take it lightly. The offsets posted so far will work fine.
