I didn't have time to ask you this but did your car shift fine when the car was off?

From what I have heard, if your car shifts fine when the car is off then it could be the clutch but then again it only happens at high rpms which is leading me to believe that it's your synchros.

I do not know how much it would cost to rebuild the tranny but I know it won't be cheap. You might be better off getting a new or used tranny instead. Will your car benefit from a LS tranny?

Join the club... my tranny is shot, and since i've already done an ATS, its not under warrenty... An now my 5th gear syncro is getting sticky so I'm going to replace that too while I have the case open... So...

Lets see what I need...
1->2 syncro set: $266.59
3->4 syncro set: $211.94
5->R syncro set: $116.48

Plus some new seals and a new nut for the countershaft.... about $650

Oh yeah, and since my spoon flywheel grind on just about every other start up, I've got to do a flywheel while i got it out so that is another 400 bux

Asspenny..just find an SiR/Si owner who is willing to trade starters with you...the ITR Denso starter seems to grind Spoon flys....while the SiR/Si Mitsuba works great...

I'm personally using the Mitsuba myself now... no grinds since...well I changed my Spoon unit last year....but still..it works!

Synchros are that expensive? When I had my GSR the dealer quoted me a 3 -> 4th synchro for like under 50 bucks, the expensive part was the labor.

thouse prices are direct from acuraautomotiveparts.net The 3->4 syncro should be cheaper, but they don't sell just the syncros, you have to buy the gear set too

Oh ok. I was probably quoted the synchro itself.

How come nobody's mentioned engine mounts??

The vibration and torquing movements of the motor that occur at high rpm are VERY SIGNIFICANT. The engine almost tries to twist out of its motor mounts.

The stock ones are fine for daily driving - but high rpm clutch dumps and high rpm shifting require stiffer mounts to prevent the engine from shifting around too much - that's why it's hard to shift gears too.

Get some if you don't have any.

Or for bling you can try:

(engine torque dampener)

Good point BPR, I also noticed that it was pretty tough to shift into 2nd due to a tremendous amount of vibration from my car. I have to somehwat force it in because it is shaking so much.

LOL I don't notice this at all. My car shifts easier when driving harder.

(engine torque dampener)
how much is that dampener? looks much easier to install than the rear motor mount

If it's under $150...I think it looks like a decent investment.

I emailed AJ-Racing about 4 months ago and they told me it wont fit on a USDM car due to it the JDM motors being setup opposite than ours... i believe the motor mounts are the same so i thought it would work..
Dont know why they told me that it wouldnt....
I think they just didnt want me to have one....
