Need Help!! Bolt broke off inside engine block..
I was changing the water pump and when I was tightening the last bolt, it snapped. So I drilled it out and tried using an easy out, but the easy out broke inside the bolt. Since the easy out is hardened metal, I have no idea where to go from here...it seems impossible to drill into the easy-out!!
Anybody have any ideas???!!

Take it to a machine shop and let them take it out. Unless you are very experienced in doing stuff like that then dont even mess with it.
which bolt was it, mine is running with out one, it's the alternator side one. The alternator has a larger bolt near it that holds it enough.

Carbide tip or titanium drill bit. New easy out. Keep the drill rpms medium to low especially if your using a pnumatic drill motor. Shouln't be a problem if you can get a good angle on it. Water pump is a tight area if its in the car.
with some of the honda engines (maybe all i dunno), there are bolts that are a longer and if you put them in the wrong hole it hits up against the outside of the cylinder wall and if you feel inclined to ram it in there you'll go through the cylinder wall and completely ruin your engine.

As Phat stated, you can drill out an easy-out with a carbide drill bit. You have to take it real slow and keep it cool with WD40. BTDT

same thing happened to me, but I was lucky enough that the remains of the bolt
just unscrewed by hand. After removing the rest of the bolts and inspecting them,
they all exhibited some stretch & pinching, meaning they were all about to break
at some point. I was using the factory torque spec., but the problem was the torque
wrench was too large for the application. If the bolts need 15ft.lbs, then use a wrench
with a range of say 0-30 ft.lbs, not 0-100 like I did. It seems that torque wrenches aren't
all that accurate at the extremes of their ranges.
good luck

Its the lower left bolt towards the tensioner. The engine is out of the car now, so I guess its off to the machine shop...I would feel way too uncomfortable going with three bolts to the water pump. Thanks for the help!
Well onto this subjuct. My frinds crx has a z6 motor, and the mount bracket on the drver side, the bottom bolt is broke off in there, the head of it broke, and the top bolt stripped itself out. Now the question is, the bottom bolt we have tried to turn out with vice grips and **** no luck, but the top one is stripped. What ist he best bet to rethreading it? Helicoil, or retap it? I mean we can get to it, just jack that side of the motor way up but any ideas will be good.
i had a similar problem, except the motor came w/ a waterpump bolt that was torqued too much, so the hole was stripped. still have 2 other bolts on, and a nice healthy amount of hondabond to seal it up. been driving it around for about 8 months, been under a LOT of boost a few times...still no problem
