Default rev limiter.....too much fuel?

I justhit 1000miles o my new rebuild, just started giving it a lil boost here and there and easing into full throttle, can anybody tell me why everytime vtec starts to kick in it sounds like its hitting rev limiter? I have a vafc and I have moved where thevtec kicks in at higher an lower and its still the same thing. I have a mugen chip in my p28 for all motor. is it cuz the ecu is putting out too much fuel and its flooding it? I know I need to get it tuned but like I said I just hit 1000miles. Thanx for your help!

first, you dont need an allmotor ecu for boost, second, what is your fuel setup?

I just put the turbo kit on and then rebuilt the motor and just havent decided what to go with. I did run this ecu for a while before with the turbo and it put down 265wp@6-7psi. I have a stock fuel pump in the tank and a paxton in-line fuel pump with stock gsr injectors. thanx

I had the same problem for a while. It was a bad vtec solenoid. You can check it with a power source and a ground if you pull it off. Just listen for the click when you put the power to it Then the problem came back and it turned out to be a ground problem with the solenoid. VTEC engagement is based partly on oil pressure as well, so if your car is low on oil or oil pressure, it won't engage. There are a ton of possibilities. I am pretty sure it isn't fuel related, though?

If it won't let you go above the VTEC RPM, then it isn't really "coming on". It is detecting a vtec error and stopping. Does it throw a vtec system failure code at all?
