Default My "Big" Project for next week....need some tips from the pros here at Honda-Tech

I have been buying alot of parts this past week to rebuild the B18C1 out of my 1995 GS-R and so far this is what I have:

Portflow Ported -n- Polished Head (arriving next week)
Skunk2 Valve Springs
Skunk2 Titanium Retainers
PortFlow Bronze Vavle Guides
Skunk2 Stage 1 Cams
Skunk2 Cam Gears
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
AEM Type-R CAI
MSD SCI-L w/ Blaster Coil
MSD 2-Step
Field V-Tec Controller
Fully balanced Crankshaft/ Type-R Flywheel/ ACT Clutch (Heavy Duty w/ SS Disc)
JDM ITR Pistons (.25 overbore) 11.1:1 compression
Stock Head Gasket
Stainless Steel RS-R Exhaust system
DC Sports 4-2-1 Header

Does anyone know of an ecu program that should kick *** with this setup? I have both a P72 and a P28 Ecu (both OBD1) that I can have chipped.

And does anyone have a recommendation of what I should set my cam gears to while I break in my engine? As soon as I break in my engine ..I will head out to the local dyno for tuning.

So far I have everything....just waiting for a few main bearings that my Acura dealer should have by this following monday then this project will be started. But all the machine work has been done and the block is ready to be built. I already purchased all my gaskets, oil pump, timing belt, water pump, etc. If you have any tips for me please lend em to me. LoL

Thanks for all your help in advance!

Are ARP Headstuds really worth it for my application?....or can I just use my stock ones?

if it was me, and if you plan on pulling your head sometime later, yes i would get the arp studs, Not only are they ALOT stronger, but they are NON stretch type bolts, and you can reuse them 500 times if need be. also helps keep the headgasket in place

DC Sports 4-2-1 Header
Might I suggest a better header. Seems to be the worst part in that list and will end up being your biggest bottleneck.

I agree with him, go for the JDM 4-1 or the DC JDM 4-1. And why not use the ARP's while you have the motor apart, better safe than sorry.

What type of hp are you expecting?
I'm wondering 'cuz I have a friend who's doing almost the same thing
but he's using CTR pistons with OEM headgasket.
Oh on your cylinder head, you didn't mention vavles...what are you using?

Thanks for the advice guys.....I admit that the DC sports header is a POS...it is my fifth DC sports header. They are not made the way they used to be anymore...I still have a stainless on my 89 Civic Si but that was when they were called DC Fabrication...the welds were so much nicer and all the tubes and collectors lined up...I guess that was when they used to worry about Quality over Quantity. Now its the total opposite. I have gotten a couple of brandnew headers from DC with incomplete welds . The only thing I have against the 4-1 header is the ground clearance. Because my car is lowered 2" the bottom pipes are always getting crushed. The only reason why I stuck with the DC again is because I have seen them dyno'd against comptech headers and the DC seems to be make more power. What 4-2-1 headers do you guys recommend? About my Valves....I just chose to go with new Stock GS-R Valves (intake and exhaust)...I was going to go with new Skunk2 Valves but Tom from Portflow told me that Stock valves are fine for what I'm doing. Slides really nice in those Bronze Valve guides!.....Does anyone have a recommendation on what ECU/Program I should run for my setup?...should I just have my P72 Obd1 chipped or should I go out and buy a P28 and have that chipped?

Thanks fellas!

Can't go wrong with Ferreas... Superior design..

As for the header, I'd love to see which tests you found the DC 4-2-1 making as much power as the comptech 4-2-1... The comptech 4-2-1 is quite the piece, the best 4-2-1 bolt on 2" header out there.
