Default could bad motor mounts cause clicking noise?

My car is making an odd clicking noise when driving above 10-15mph.. I can actually FEEL the clicking on the floor boards very slightly.. The clicking does not happen when i turn which rules out bad cv joints. The owner before me had the same problem but he said he changed his axles so that rules out bad axles.. and the sound only comes when I'm moving.. at idle or even if i rev no noise.. so that rules out the engine.. The ONLY other thing I can think of unless its the tranny is the motor or tranny mounts. I think I heard from somewhere that bad/worn out mounts could cause clicking noise but what kind of clicking noise could that be described as? My clicking noise gets fasters as I go faster and slower as I go slower.. other reason i think it could be my mounts is i get very bad wheel hop when i shift... which i also heard could be becuase of bad/worn out motor mounts.. anyone got any ideas?

Tighten your mounts and rule that one out then. It's easy!

If you can feel it on the floorboards, it might be the heatshield on your car. They go to **** sometimes...

hey man I PM'd you, but that sounds very similar to the problem I had, except as mine progressed it would even do it at idle. And at first, it also would go away randolmly, usually when i was turning.

could a loose bolt in the mount cause clicking noise? the noise gets faster as I get faster and slower as I go slower but the clicking is always there nonetheless... anyone ever had this happen due to a loose bolt in the mount?

a c/v axle has two joints. If the outer joint goes out it clicks in a turn, as you said. But if it's a inter joint it clicks going straight and not in corners. Take it from me I have benn there.

I know its kinda hard over the net but could you describe the TYPE of clicking noise it produces if the inner joint goes bad?

yeah, there's a plethora of things that could cause your clicking. I was thinking more along a chipped gear in the tranny going bad or something like that.

I have the same problem that you have right now. I'm trying to figure it out also soon as I start moving my car makes a clicking noise and then it gets faster as I start to move faster. My rear motormount from hasport the polyurathane bushing is kind of busted so it might be that I'm going to go check that out. damn bushing

Does it happen if you are cruising at about 20 or so in 2nd gear and then let off the gas, or when you accelerate , then let off quickly, enough to jerk the car as you do?

it pretty much happens in all the gears and any speeds... as i said it makes noise after i accelerate to 15mph and all the way back to 0.

Does this noise accelerate with the chasis or the engine RPM?

EDIT: you answered already.

Chasis.

I had this issue one time......check your brake caliper and make sure it has both bolts that hold the caliper in place. My top one had popped out and was bouncing against the inside of the wheel.

oh yeah I just noticed this today also, when ever it starts to make the noise my speedometer stops working or it starts to flutter all over the place. But when the noise isn't their my speedometer works perfectly. So now I'm really lost ummmmm.

I would jack that thing up and start looking at everything from the starter to the tranny.

Sounds like your speedo sensor in the tranny is coming out and clicking around....that's the first thing I'd check. I gotta remember what that looks like and see how it goes in....I probably have a pic from when I did my LSD. I'll look tonight.
